Back to the Origin — Refined and Reborn as Area Area V / V-Micro

Approximately 20 years after the first model and 8 years after the second, the Area Area has undergone a model change to Version V. The development concept is a return to the origin.

While the second model evolved into a sharper, cleaner curve by minimizing the dull characteristics typical of glass rods, the new Area Area V was developed to highlight the true performance of a glass rod even further. To achieve this, the taper design of the first model was intentionally used as a base, with slight adjustments made to the butt section taper. Additionally, S2 glass material has been adopted for further refinement.

The result is a next-generation blank that draws out deeper glass performance while improving castability.
Polishing the natural bend that defines glass rod performance — that is exactly what Area Area V pursues.

This is a quintessential 6-foot XUL-power model representing the Area Area series. Its high versatility and refined glass rod performance make it suitable for a wide range of lures and tactics — from spoons to crankbaits — flexibly absorbing trout bites and guiding them to the hook.

Unlike rods that rely on a rapid rod tip snap to set the hook, this glass rod allows for natural hold and deep bites, characteristic of true fiberglass performance. During the fight, the flexible butt section follows the fish’s pull, reducing the risk of losing the catch. The more the rod bends, the more power it generates, giving ample control even when landing larger fish.

A high-performance, all-purpose model that is exceptionally easy to handle in a variety of fishing situations.

ORIGINAL GLOSS BLACK ALUMINUM + NATURAL ZEBRA WOOD REEL SEAT & CORK GRIP

A beautifully designed original reel seat combining authentic cork with glossy black anodized aluminum and natural zebra wood impregnated with resin to enhance strength and water resistance.

The threaded body features a wave-shaped design that not only enhances appearance but also prevents finger discomfort while tightening. The hood nut includes carefully knurled anti-slip processing. The movable ring that secures the reel foot is itself structured as a nut, making it resistant to loosening when tightened — eliminating the common issue of aluminum ring seats coming loose.

It pairs exceptionally well with the Short & Thin aluminum trigger.

ORIGINAL SHORT & THIN GLOSS BLACK TRIGGER

A T&S-designed original aluminum trigger precision-machined using advanced 3D cutting technology.

Not only short and thin, it features a wing-edge shape that fits the finger perfectly. Designed to accommodate any grip style, it provides such a natural fit that the trigger almost “disappears” in hand.

During casting, it delivers a secure hooking feel without interfering with any casting form.
During lure retrieval, it allows you to focus entirely on bites without being aware of its presence.

ORIGINAL GLOSS BLACK ALUMINUM + RUBBER END CAP

An original gloss black aluminum and rubber end cap combining functionality and beauty.

The rubber component protects the rod end from scratches during field use. Indoors, it prevents slipping on flooring, metal, hardwood, or plastic surfaces. The aluminum front features a laser-engraved TAPER & SHAPE logo, and the rubber end cap carries the designer’s trademark in molded relief.

Fuji® T2 Polished Dark-Gray Titanium Frame SiC-S Ring K-Guide

An original guide system designed to reduce line resistance — especially important when casting ultra-light lures around 1g.

A sufficiently large butt guide diameter reduces resistance and quickly straightens the spiral shape of the line into smaller diameter guides. This enhances casting control without sacrificing distance, making it optimal for area rods frequently using lightweight lures.

Compatible with nylon, fluorocarbon, ester, and PE lines.

All guides use lightweight, highly sensitive T2 titanium frame SiC guides.

NON-PAINT FERALITE FERRULE

A Feralite ferrule joint system is adopted.

This structure provides a sharper action and minimal power loss even with identical taper curves. The joint section is intentionally left unpainted to avoid inaccuracies caused by paint thickness and to enhance precision. The natural adhesion between blank materials ensures smooth and secure assembly and disassembly.

A slight portion of the unpainted section remains visible when assembled. The tip section includes the model number for easy identification when owning multiple rods.

The Area Area V series features a black base with orange underprint (the theme color), beautifully matching the shiny dark brown blank and orange-gold winding check. The opposite side is printed with:

SLIT STYLE ROD BAG

Taper & Shape strongly recommends storing and transporting the rod in the included rod bag.

It effectively prevents blank scratches outside of field use and protects two-piece rods from interference damage and noise.

The slit-style rod bag allows storage with the reel attached, eliminating setup hassle. The two rubber-faced belts help firmly grip and separate tight ferrule joints. For storage, hang the rod using the loop at the tip of the bag with the grip facing downward to prevent stress and deformation — especially important for glass rods prone to taking a set.
