The greatest feature of the Vertical Limit is its exceptional hooking ability and holding power. It demonstrates high performance, especially in situations where fish activity is low or bites are shallow. It balances two opposing elements: the ‘initial hooking performance,’ where the tip of the hook tries to penetrate as soon as it touches the fish, and the ‘penetration power,’ which ensures a secure hold even when the fish attempts to turn. With a precisely calculated hook angle and straight point setting, we pursued a balance between initial hooking quality and penetration power. We selected materials with strength suitable for various fight styles, from yellowtail to amberjack and large grouper, based on line diameter. The simple round bend shape captures the fish’s load over a wide range, enhancing holding performance. To reduce the risk of cutting through the fish, we left the round shaft at the bend heel (the deepest part of the bend) while applying partial flattening to enhance the shape retention of the hook body.
