Kotaro Kubono. Attention to detail in marking lines.

When the previous Masurado II was released, Kubono Kotaro had the idea of ​​adding markings to the next model change. At first, he tried adding visible colors to the 1m and 1.5m sections, but since they were visible, they worked as marking lines. However, it looked uncool and he didn’t like it. What’s more, there were other lines with similar patterns, so he wanted to make something different. For example, he could reverse the marking color and make it invisible black… And while trying various things, Kubono had a question. Most markings are 30 or 50cm long, but there are none longer than that, so wouldn’t it be okay to make them 1m or 2m long?

So, I tried making a pattern with 3m of base pink and 2m of dark green, and it worked. Normally, pink is not a visible color, but the pink of the Masurad equipped with the “Expansion Effect Color” is visible to a certain extent down to the surface of the water. Then comes the dark green, which is truly invisible. Therefore, it looks as if the pink line has broken off and disappeared halfway. Then, after a gap of 2m, the pink reappears. Normally, markings are used for the purpose of “being visible,” but Kubono eliminated the “visibility” aspect and created an unorthodox line. Because each color is long, it doesn’t look cluttered, and has a calm feel that is somewhere between a solid color line and a marked line. It is exactly the color Kubono was looking for.

The new Masurad has a different meaning to regular marking lines. When using this main line, it is recommended to tie it to the leader at the dark green part. If a flashy main line suddenly appears on top of the invisible leader, fish will become wary, so the inconspicuous dark green color is said to have a stealth effect. With such an inconspicuous dark green, it should be invisible even to fish. It seems that the 2m length is also meaningful in this respect.
