ENGAGE Knives Bass Rods Series

The new shape of the bass rod proposed by GRASSROOTS is the ENGAGE Knives Series, embodying the ideal of the bass rod based on the basic concept of "ENGAGE." Revisiting and reassessing the elements and basic performance required of a bass rod, each lure, technique, and method is designed with a clear concept. Every aspect of the rod, including blank materials, manufacturing methods, guide parts, and reel seats, has been carefully selected and set up with the best possible parts and technology.

The performance sought in the Knives Series is the fusion of lightweight and sharp operability with robust and torque-filled rigidity. Lighter, more resilient, and stronger... Its feel and handling are as sharp as finely crafted steel.

The Knives Series employs a high-pressure multilayer bias method with thin pre-preg as a consistent basic construction, achieving a high taper combining lightness and robustness. Furthermore, by using Toray's NANOALLOY® polymer in the resin, which is the muscle of the rod, the crushing resistance of the blanks' cross-section is reinforced, converting the blank's crushing stress into lifting power. The result is an ultra-lightweight, high-sensitivity feel. It has an extremely dry and sharp swing-through feel while being resilient under load, with a robust butt power to support it. This is the ideal bass rod.

BLANKS MATERIAL

The blank material composition consists of three types. Toray's pre-preg with different elastic moduli is used appropriately for the base graphite, with the construction tailored to each model.

1. Premium Synthetic

   

   • A hybrid shaft reinforced with aramid synthetic fibers laminated with graphite of different elastic moduli.
2. Premium Polymer

   

   • Blanks constructed with graphite of different elastic moduli, standing out for their lightweight, sensitivity, and agile operability.
3. Multi Direction Layer

   

   • Based on unidirectional glass with a layer of graphite and aramid synthetic fibers at the butt section, further tightened with 4Axial carbon tape for a composite shaft.

GUIDE COMPONENTS

  • Lightweight Fuji titanium frame/SiC ring guides that maximize the rod's sensitivity and balance.
• ENGAGE Original Guide Setting

  

  • Multiple guides support the line firmly on the blank, maximizing the rod's power. The micro guide setup allows the line to run close to the blanks, achieving both lightweight and high sensitivity.

GRIP DESIGN

• Casting Model

  

  • Uses a C6 carbon original reel seat, contributing to lightness and sensitivity, while ensuring wrist freedom and stable palming during casting.
• Spinning Model

  

  • Equipped with Fuji VSS seat, allowing a gripping style with the index finger on the blank. The TVSK hood is up-locked for a seamless hold.
• Grip End

  

  • The cap material uses high-weather-resistance nylon resin. The end cap is laser-engraved with the GRASSROOTS logo.

Ideal for Small to Medium Crankbaits, Medium Spy Baits, and Wake Baits

This "Fast Moving Custom" rod is perfect for small to medium crankbaits, medium spy baits, and wake baits. It features a composite shaft, using lightweight UD glass as the base material in the butt section, reinforced with Nano Alloy and Aramid Synthetic Fiber. The entire blank is wrapped with 4Axial carbon tape, creating a well-balanced composite shaft.

The flexible glass section allows crankbaits to swim lively without excessive fluttering, while the smooth graphite section ensures a comfortable retrieve with good sensitivity and a flexible bend curve to minimize fish loss. Wrapping the entire blank with 4Axial tape reduces the wobble of the glass section, enhancing casting performance. The combination of a composite structure and a hard butt section allows for sharp, liner-like casts as the tip turns quickly during the take-back phase. This significantly improves accuracy in cover cranking and pinpoint casting.

Even when a bass is hooked near cover and the rod is fully bent, the hard butt section prevents the fish from taking control. The ML power composite shaft is highly versatile, making it suitable not only for small to medium crankbaits but also for medium spy baits and wake baits with treble hooks.
