When a rod bends, energy (restoring force) is generated in the opposite direction of the bend. This energy, known as "strain energy," occurs as the deformed blank tries to return to its original shape, and is a crucial factor that affects the rod's performance. DAIWA developed a unique system to analyze and design this strain energy, allowing for a clear understanding of "what is good" and "what is lacking," while also reflecting the angler’s sensory preferences in the design. This system brings the rod closer to the angler's needs, incorporating tester Kikuma's sensitivities into the design for a deeper evolution in action.
SVF NANOPLUS
By combining ultra-high-density carbon SVF with Toray’s Nanoloy technology, DAIWA achieved further strength enhancement and lightweight properties. The result is an incredibly lightweight, powerful, and slim rod design.
V-JOINTα
The joint section uses high-strength nanoloy material and DAIWA's precision manufacturing technology to create V-JOINTα, which is stronger, lighter, and offers a smoother bend compared to the original V-JOINT. This reduces power loss in the joints, allowing the blank to perform at its best.
X45
To prevent twisting during actions like casting, hooking, and fighting, extensive research concluded that the optimal solution is adding a ±45° bias cross (carbon fibers angled at 45°) to the traditional construction. By incorporating X45, twisting is prevented, and there is a dramatic improvement in power, operability, and sensitivity. This is especially effective when casting heavier rigs.
3DX
3DX is a supportive structure focused on restoring power. It uses a honeycomb structure with excellent stability and restoration power around the outer part of the rod to enhance the blank’s ability to recover its shape. The stronger the rod’s restoration power, the better the stability and distance achieved during casting, with a reduction in tip wobble.
