Devotion to Real Fishing

★ The obstacles before us serve as signposts on the path to victory.

★ The god of victory resides within oneself, and in the details.

★ In 2021, a new chapter of STEEZ begins, with layers of depth added.

★ Now, let us carve a new page with our own hands.

The extreme reduction of resin volume is the true 'muscle' of the blank.

When compared to the standard at 100%, SVF COMPILE-X can achieve a maximum sensitivity of 171.4%.

Pursuing ergonomics for a more natural grip holds the key to victory.

The new AIR BEAM SEAT enhances attacking power, ensuring that 21STEEZ never loosens its grip on the angler and the rod, the direct contact points. By offsetting the penetrating blank within the seat, it ensures stability by lowering the center of gravity. The seat is designed with reduced steps between the trigger and the rear, and the hood is angled to fit any grip style comfortably. The trigger itself is designed to be thin and short, allowing the index finger to support during casting and smoothly transition to 2 or 3 fingers for retrieval without interference from the middle or ring fingers.

Flawless finesse worming's trump card

In tandem with BLACKJACK, finesse in all directions is within range
This season's announcement of the 22STEEZ comprises a total of 4 models. The first one I'd like to explain is Mr. STEEZ, Toshinari Namiki's ambitious work, the WEREWOLF Power Plus. It was during a test fishing expedition targeting early spring specimens in the deep reservoirs of Oku-Kanagawa that Namiki made this assertion.
"I've tested hooking power with every lure, but there's nothing to worry about anymore."
What Namiki was seeking in the new WEREWOLF was precisely that latent ability.
A professional who completes his work without compromise in every aspect. Normally, in development, it often takes longer than anyone else, sometimes even years. However, Namiki acknowledged that the day he was still early in development was the final test, nodding deeply. It was evidence of its completeness without hesitation.
Since long ago, during early spring and late autumn fishing trips, I've been using the 08WEREWOLF for 13 years. Since the release of the 15BLACK JACK, they have been lined up together on the boat deck as main rods. Since last season, the 21BLACKJACK has replaced the 15 model, but for Namiki,
"It's finesse-oriented. And technical." This was the trump card among bait rods, covering everything from downs shots to neko rigs, free rigs, and no sinkers.
It's inevitable that ambitions emerge from continued use. It goes without saying that a professional angler is always aiming for higher ground.
"The difference in power between the two items was felt. BLACKJACK is stiff, while WEREWOLF is more finesse-oriented. There was some desire to fill that gap."
Both models fully demonstrate their excellent operability stemming from their ultra-high sensitivity and ultra-lightweight. Both feature the carbon technology SVF COMPILE-X, which is only allowed in DAIWA bass rods, at their core, and have been able to cope with the weight difference in finesse rigs due to differences in power.
The difference between 15BLACKJACK and 08WEREWOLF is evident. While the butt of the former is overwhelmingly stiff, the latter leaves something to be desired. To put it bluntly, in rigs ranging from the main 3.5 to 7 grams, depending on the volume and resistance of the worm, the former tends towards 7 grams and the latter towards 3.5 grams. The fact is, neither rod was able to fully dominate the middleweight 5-gram rig.
"There's no disagreement about the delicate operability. It's just that if 08WEREWOLF had a bit more power, it would broaden its range of compatibility with various rigs and lures."
It was inevitable that Namiki demanded a reevaluation of the taper balance.

Realizing a well-balanced offense and defense without excess or deficiency
The second generation of STEEZ that Namiki worked on last season consisted of 5 models. The proposition common to all of them was "versatility". While WEREWOLF was originally a rod with high versatility in finesse, Namiki understood that by further expanding its range, it could function as an immediate asset in the field.
"It's difficult to get stuck due to its strong tension, and even if it does, it's easy to remove. There's no disagreement about the tip."
The multi-taper, which bends parabolically under high loads such as tip action, casting, hooking, and fighting, remains intact under low loads. While maintaining the delicate operability of rig control as before, a reevaluation of the taper balance from the belly to the butt was decided upon. This was to improve the responsiveness to 5g rigs of resistant worms, as well as the compatibility with 7g rigs that felt overpowering.
"Strengthening the butt power was urgently needed to expand the versatility."
While maintaining the operability of finesse bait rigs such as the down shot, Snagless Neko Rig, and Small Rubber Jig, the ultra-high sensitivity finesse worming that fills the gap between BLACKJACK and WEREWOLF is achieved by supplementing the butt's power. It successfully overcame the situation where the offense was stagnating.
The casting ability of lightweight lures is not a problem. The 66 length is tightened with X45 Full Shield throughout the body, enabling high-speed casts with a compact swing to accurately penetrate pin spots. The continuation of the multi-taper avoids the risk of line breakage while dramatically improving hooking response with the benefits of increased butt power.
"It has been refined to be more delicate than the 21BLACK JACK. Compared to the previous model, I can see that the defensive range has clearly expanded."
The finish allows for not only worming but also handling metal vibes and jigging spoons that require tricky operability and instant penetration, as well as jerkbaits and spinnerbaits. If I were to compare it, it would be a super high sensitivity SVF COMPILE-X version of "TYPE-1.5". The butt end finished with EVA round specifications softens interference with belly contact even during instant hooking, boosting attacking power.
The 22WEREWOLF Power Plus enables delicate handling to bold attacks. It should be able to wield a rod that has never been caught before with a well-balanced offense and defense."
