Overview

Sharpen the mind. Hone the fangs.

A sharp gaze, powerful jaws, and a beautiful, silver-gleaming body… "Ginro" — dedicated to uki-fukase float fishing for black porgy (chinu) — was born by likening the battle-hardened, understated brilliance of such a creature to a solitary wolf, cunning and wise.

A serious contest with black porgy, one that demands boldness at times and cunning maneuvering at others. Winning this fight calls for tackle refined enough to answer the angler's own wisdom and skill. Dedicated to black porgy, dedicated to uki-fukase — this is a lineup of carefully crafted items for anglers who share that same dedication. Ready for the fight, Ginro sharpens its fangs again today.

A next-generation chinu fukase rod, created by combining an ultra-slim profile with high-modulus carbon.

Wrapped in a "Power Slim Blank" that fuses an ultra-slim, thick-walled blank with high-modulus carbon, the newly reborn "Ginro Ohga" has undergone a dramatic evolution. Using the high-modulus carbon "TORAYCA® M46X" and molded with DAIWA's rod technology, the slim, thick-walled blank achieves light, agile handling through a sharp swing action and a silhouette that dramatically cuts wind resistance.

On top of that, it comes in two tapers you can choose to match your area and field. The "S" (slow-taper) concept bends beautifully all the way down to the butt section, letting you enjoy playing each fish as though you have it wrapped around your finger. The "F" (fast-taper) concept offers excellent hooking response and strong control over the fish during the fight, with a balance suited to tackling rocky shores and deep water.

Once a fish is hooked, the synergy with the low-taper design lets the rod bend supplely all the way up to the top of the reel seat, drawing out the blank's full potential. The ultra-slim profile dramatically cuts wind resistance, improving handling even in strong wind. It delivers a steady, unwavering cast even at long range — a real advantage in chinu fukase fishing, where long casts come up often.

The rear grip is shaped to fit naturally against the elbow, with a design that resists slipping even when fighting a fish one-handed. Another appeal is its white-and-silver coloring, which gives it an unmistakable presence on the rocks — recognizable at a glance even from the next spot over.

DAIWA Technology

AGS

AGS (Air Guide System), which delivers light weight and high sensitivity, uses a carbon frame. Because carbon offers roughly three times the rigidity of titanium, it transmits even the faintest signals carried through the line directly to the blank without absorbing them, giving it high sensitivity. Carbon's light weight also increases swing speed and speeds up the settling of tip vibration, dramatically improving both casting distance and control.

V-Joint α

V-Joint α was born by using the high-strength material Nanoalloy at the joint and applying DAIWA's own precision-machining technology, evolving V-JOINT into something even stronger, lighter, and cleaner-bending. For fishing that involves repeated casting, thinning the joint section lets the whole blank be finished slimmer, improving both the smoothness of the swing and overall handling.

SVF Nanoplus|

Ultra-high-density SVF carbon, which delivers lightness, power, and a slimmer profile, is combined with Toray's Nanoalloy technology using DAIWA's own proprietary process, making even greater strength and weight reduction possible.

X45

To prevent the twisting that occurs during casting, action, hooksets, and fights, years of research led to the conclusion that, on top of the conventional structure (0° and 90° relative to the rod tip), wrapping a "45°" bias cross — carbon fiber angled at ±45° — is the optimal way to prevent twist. By adopting X45, twist is prevented, and power, handling, and sensitivity are all dramatically improved.

Mega Top

Mega Top is a carbon solid material with fibers and resin evenly distributed throughout, so it bends the same way in every direction. As a result, its strength is dramatically improved compared to a conventional carbon solid tip. This makes it possible to build a slim-diameter, flexible, high-taper tip section that delivers not only sensitivity you can feel in your hand, but also excellent visual sensitivity in the tip itself, giving you a tip section that reads bites reliably.

Zero Seat

Zero Seat is a new reel-seat design philosophy aimed at letting anglers enjoy fishing wholeheartedly, free of stress.

IC Guard

IC Guard uses two raised ridges formed in paint — an "I"-shaped ridge running lengthwise and a "C"-shaped ridge running around the guide — to reduce the line sticking that comes from moisture. Combined with a highly durable, water-repellent Super Coat, it delivers smoother line handling than ever before.

Product Details

An ultra-slim blank that delivers a dramatic evolution in taper

By fusing high-modulus carbon, including "TORAYCA® M46X," with DAIWA Technology, it supplely follows a fish's run, and once bent deep, gradually brings out the lifting power that's characteristic of high-modulus carbon. It combines the pleasure of the fight itself with real-world fishing performance, having undergone a remarkable evolution.

Zero Seat (Power Hump Hold Seat)

Shaped to allow a powerful grip with your index finger resting on the lever. It also shortens the grip section compared to a conventional seat, so the blank can bend right from above the reel seat, letting you use every bit of the butt section.

AGS (#1–#2) + TC-IM Guides (#3 and fixed guides beyond)

Uses AGS TYPE-0 (#1–#2) and TC-IM guides (#3 and the fixed guides beyond). Their light weight lets tip vibration settle quickly, making even the faintest bite easier to catch. An oval ring shape that reduces line-release resistance, plus a smooth, rounded guide frame with no rough edges, helps prevent line tangles.

Tough Bright Coat finish

The tip section uses Tough Bright Coat in orange for outstanding visibility. The guide-alignment marks are changed to black only where they sit on the orange section (gold everywhere else), so they stand out clearly even against the light or during dawn and dusk, making guide setup easy.

Elbow-fit rear grip

Fitted with a rear grip that curves gently toward the butt end, improving how it fits against the elbow. A non-slip texture over a wide area allows for a steadier fight than ever before.

A slimmer butt section gives a taper that follows a fish's run.

It supplely follows a fish's run, yet has a core strength that works to bring the fish up the deeper it bends.

Even when casting your rig, it bends just the right amount under load, letting you cast using the rod's own rebound power.

Item Introduction

ModelDescription
S0-53 Finished with especially supple action, even for the S concept, giving it outstanding flexibility that absorbs a fish's run using the rod's stroke alone. It follows a fish's run so completely that the angler feels there's no need to give out line at all — the ideal item for savoring the pleasure of the fight itself.
S03-53 The newly introduced 03 size combines the margin of the 06 with the suppleness of the 0. An item with a genuinely well-balanced offense and defense, made possible only by this slim, low-taper design. It handles medium fish up to about 40cm with power to spare, and even against a surprise fish over 50cm, the butt section bends in to bring the run to a full stop before working it up to the surface.
S06-53 While its basic design concept is a slow taper, it draws out the properties of its high-modulus material and boosts response, giving it a tight, no-slack feel. The whole rod bends appropriately to a fish's run, giving a real sense of solid support. An all-round rod that handles areas known for large black porgy or red seabream, as well as deep water.
S1-53 A power model whose lifting force builds the deeper it bends, letting you bring a fish straight to the surface. The power that pours out the deeper you bend the butt section sets it apart from every chinu rod that came before. It handles fast currents and deep water with ease, and is ideal for a power fight that brings a large black porgy or red seabream up fast and settles things quickly.
F06-50 An all-round short-length model built around handling. Easy on fatigue even after a full day of fishing, it raises demanding fishing — fine line mending, setting the hook on the faintest bite when using dough bait — to a higher level. An item that also has a suppleness that lets the whole rod bend, far more than you'd expect from its sharp, crisp swing.
F06-53 With a design leaning toward a fast taper, it lets you clearly switch between stopping a fish and lifting it, while also having the suppleness to bend smoothly during the fight. The ideal model for playing a black porgy and bringing it in to your feet quickly, in situations where you need to work around obstacles.
F1-53 Excellent handling for bringing a fish in, it performs well from spots that are difficult to land a fish from — rough, snaggy bottoms, deep water, or weed beds. During the fight, power releases smoothly all the way up to the reel seat, without the strong stiffness typical of a fast taper, and it also has enough flexibility to work with light terminal tackle. A dependable item for when you want to land a big fish for certain, such as working around weed in early spring.
TypeDescription
F (Fast Taper) Models Without the unpleasant stiffness typical of a fast taper, this is an unconventional taper that combines two seemingly opposite qualities: a fast-taper-like action under light load, and supple follow-through once a fish runs.
S (Slow Taper) Models Even though it's a slow taper that bends supplely throughout, it delivers more power the deeper it bends, resulting in a new kind of taper that overturns the old assumption that a flexible rod means a fish won't come up.
