DAIWA Analyster Egitako MH-170/J
Overview
A dedicated egi-tako (octopus) rod built around a flexible, high-sensitivity glass solid tip that excels at bottom tracing. Designed to deliver precise “tapping” control of the egi along the seabed while maintaining the power needed for solid hooksets. The use of a V-Joint construction minimizes power loss and ensures a smooth, natural bend despite the center-cut 2-piece design. Combining bottom control, operability, and hook-setting power, this series is built to perform across a wide range of conditions.
Action Types
- S-180: 7:3 action (balanced, versatile)
- MH-170 / H-180SP: 8:2 action (faster, more aggressive)
Key Technologies
X45 Construction

Prevents rod twisting during casting, action, and fighting by incorporating ±45° bias carbon wrapping in addition to traditional 0°/90° layers. This significantly enhances power, control, and sensitivity.
AIR SENSOR SEAT

A carbon-reinforced reel seat that delivers reduced weight, increased strength, and superior sensitivity. Designed specifically for this application to maximize control and feedback.
V-JOINT

A bias carbon joint system that creates a smooth, seamless bend similar to a one-piece rod. Improves power transfer, recovery speed, and overall rod action.

Model Lineup
S-180
An easy-to-handle, all-round model featuring a flexible glass solid tip for precise and controlled bottom tapping.
MH-170
A more aggressive model with added tip stiffness and power, designed for active lure manipulation and technical presentations.
H-180SP
A high-power spinning model equipped with large-diameter guides, offering excellent casting performance and long-distance coverage.
Spinning Tackle Advantages (H-180SP)

Spinning setups excel in casting distance. When covering wide areas—especially in calm conditions or when current is weak—being able to cast farther is critical. Even with heavy egi + sinker rigs, spinning tackle allows full-power casting without the risk of backlash.
Recommended reel size: SW 4000–6000 (power gear)
