Fenwick was one of the first to develop rods specialized for new techniques that emerged in each era. Originating from the Nagoya fishing method, 'Mid Strolling' emerged as a tournament technique for targeting mid-water layers. This technique required a design and conception not yet conceived by Fenwick at the time. The result was the creation of the TAV-GP64SULJ 'Mid Strolling Special,' the world's first rod designed specifically for mid-strolling. In an era dominated by a philosophy of high sensitivity, this rod, with its somewhat contradictory concept, was clearly considered heretical. However, this rod's action is credited with breathing 'life' into lures, making it a legendary rod known for enticing even the most wary bass to bite. As Fenwick celebrates its 70th anniversary, we return to the roots of 'Mid Strolling' to redesign the taper. Unlike the current lineup, which features rods known for 'Flashing Midst,' which lure with finer rolls, this rod goes back to the original concept of the first generation 64SUL J, which controlled the line slack leisurely. The synergistic effect of the taper that bends thoroughly from the tip to the belly and the guide setting made to freely control the line slack has resulted in a rod that can produce the best lure action to induce bites. Moreover, by reassessing the balance of the entire rod, we have succeeded in reducing wobble near the grip and minimizing fatigue. This rod is versatile, suitable not only for jig head swimming but also for jig head wacky, dropshot shaking, and even topwater and shad applications.
