SMITH Magnum Husky Nex MHN-75SH/2
Overview
Snakehead Rod: Next Generation Standard Model
The Magnum Husky 'NEX' represents the reconfiguration of a long-demanded standard item, now with a cork handle specification. The name 'NEX' embodies 'NEW GENERATION,' 'NEXT GENERATION,' and 'NEW EXPECTATION,' signifying a forward-looking and innovative approach.
What we demanded from NEX: It's a power game-oriented snakehead rod that emphasizes 'ease of operation' and 'resistance to losing fish,' which are perennial challenges even for heavy rods. Special attention was given to these two aspects during development. The rod is designed for power hooking at any distance and was reevaluated for the best taper and material combination to minimize hook-offs under the challenging conditions typical of barbless hollow frog fishing and cover games.
This iteration introduces an 'H' class rod, exceptional in operation and effective in light cover situations. Also, for the first time, a convenient 2-piece model has been added to facilitate transport.
Specifications:
- All models in the Magnum Husky NEX series are baitcasting models.
- Detachable grip one-piece model, except for the 75SH/2, which is a two-piece model.
- Guides: Utilizes Fuji KWSG + MNSG (stainless steel frame with SiC rings).
These features ensure the NEX series rods are well-suited for the demanding environments of snakehead fishing, offering enhanced maneuverability and durability.
Magnum Husky Nex MHN-75SH/2
This two-piece model is designed with the convenience of using public transportation and courier services during expeditions in mind. While emphasizing the strength of the joint, it offers a seamless bend and operability across the entire rod when in use, making it feel like a one-piece rod. The design focuses on achieving smooth torque transition throughout the rod for optimal performance.
Blank :
The rod blank is made from UD glass combined with 24t graphite. Rather than solely focusing on new materials, it incorporates stable medium modulus carbon as the main component with glass fiber. While the new model is slightly lighter than its predecessor, the primary improvement lies in its overall balance which enhances maneuverability.
Grip:
The handle uses an offset (detachable) method. It primarily utilizes Fuji's TCS reel seat (except for model 77XH, which uses T-DPS). The reel seat is designed without slip-resistant coatings or paint to maintain a trouble-free normal condition. A LOGR (Double Nut System, Lock Nut) locking system is employed, which features a stopper between the nuts preventing loosening from one nut affecting the other, thus minimizing any slack.
The cork handle is designed with a straight shape, with a slightly enlarged grip end to be effective during fights in cover games.
Guides:
Fuji KWSG+MNSG (stainless steel SiC rings) are used. The tip uses KWSG to reduce line tangles, while the butt uses MNSG for its superior strength. Each guide is securely attached with double wrapping.
Additional Features:
The front part of the cork grip and the grip end are reinforced with high-quality cork to reduce chipping, a common weakness of cork grips.
