SHIMANO Ocea Jigger Motive B610-5

Overview

Lighter, more versatile, and stronger.
A long rod that showcases a variety of jigging actions.
This slow-type long rod stands out in cutting-edge jigging scenes, such as targeting bluefin tuna, mid-depth fishing, and vertical jigging. As a pioneer in this field, the Ocea Jigger ∞ Motive has undergone further evolution with a commitment to the best balance between length and operability. The desired performance is to manipulate jig actions more lightly and with greater versatility. The blanks, which achieve the seemingly contradictory performance of being "easy to handle despite their long length," combine a bow-like flexibility with a powerful response that allows jigs to be lifted vigorously. Lightweight, hollow, and highly sensitive carbon rear grips and X-guides maximize the performance of the blanks, enabling a wide range of fall actions, control of jig speed, and precision in targeting specific depths, thus further enhancing jerk performance. Additionally, by thoroughly pursuing a balance where the point of flex smoothly transitions towards the angler, common issues associated with long rods, such as fatigue and stress, are also addressed. The Motive, now closer to the ideal jigging experience, provides versatile jig actions in every moment of falling and jerking.

KEY FEATURE:
For Those Who Break Through the Limits of Falling
The magic of "fall," which stimulates the predatory instincts of all fish-eating species. Many anglers who deeply understand jigging regard this lure technique as the core of their strategy. Though it may seem simple, it is profoundly intricate, allowing experienced anglers to create versatile traps by blending their knowledge and intuition with traditional patterns.

A crucial element for manipulating this "fall" is the length of the rod. However, it is a common understanding that as rod length increases, so do the burdens and stresses on the angler, negatively affecting the precision of jerking techniques.

To overcome this dilemma, we challenged ourselves to develop the new Ocea Jigger ∞ Motive, making the impossible possible.

The Shimano development team, led by Mr. Hiroto Yamamoto, meticulously focused on this project, conducting extensive real-world testing in various fields and creating an extraordinary number of prototype rods, ultimately resulting in a completely new concept of slow jigging rods.

This rod accommodates a wide range of jerk techniques, from slow to fast, while overturning the established theory that "long rods are tiring." The limitless possibilities that unfold beyond the limits await those who seek to master the art of falling. We hope that true seekers of this technique can experience the true meaning of this rod—its "MOTIVE."

A Strong Core, Like Well-Trained Muscles

The next-generation core structure, Spiral X Core, has evolved with the use of high-strength materials. By thoroughly re-examining the established Spiral X from the core, the blanks are reinforced against bending, twisting, and crushing in all directions. They are thinner and lighter, yet significantly reduce the undesirable wobbling that is often a weakness of thinner blanks, delivering powerful and sharp responsiveness. With strength reminiscent of an athlete's well-trained muscles, the rod easily lifts jigs. The stable performance enhances the angler's concentration, providing assurance that they will not be overpowered, even when bending the rod, thus supporting a relaxed fight against unexpected large catches.

Accelerating Stress-Free Performance with Slow Taper Design

"Easy jerking with a long rod" is an indispensable keyword when discussing the Motive. It exhibits immense responsiveness that allows jigs to be effortlessly lifted while minimizing physical strain, thanks to the blank's bow-like flexibility. The slow-tapered blanks have shifted the bending point closer to the angler, enabling precise control over variations and loads for stress-free jigging. Whether slow or fast, the versatile potential to handle both will reaffirm that bending does not equate to a lack of power.

Guide System That Maximizes Blank Performance

The guides are essential components for maximizing blank performance. The X Guide 3D Titanium installed on the Motive features a one-piece frame shaped through Shimano's unique cold forging technology. It is lightweight, strong, and lacks sharp edges, and its calculated incline significantly reduces line troubles such as tangles while promoting smooth line release. Additionally, the guide foot is designed as short as possible to mitigate the feeling of stiffness when bending the blanks, ensuring a smooth curve that maximizes potential while effectively transmitting bites.

Lightweight, Hollow, and Highly Sensitive: Carbon Rear Grip

The rear grip is made from lightweight, hollow, and rigid carbon. It excels in transmitting vibrations, resulting in high sensitivity. It directly senses and conveys not only bites but also subtle changes in current and the texture of the bottom. The unique patterns of the carbon fibers also create a special presence, enhancing the distinctiveness of the Motive.

FEATURE:
Full Holding Seat
Supports High-Precision Operation.

By incorporating a tapered shape and a constricted design at the grip, this feature pursues a fit that feels like it "sticks" to your hand and offers a fatigue-free grip. It adapts to various holding styles, including gripping, resting on the palm, and using 2 to 4 fingers. Additionally, by flattening the bottom of the grip, stability is enhanced when holding, providing support for high-precision jigging from the angler's hand. Furthermore, the use of carbon-reinforced material CI4+ contributes to weight reduction and increased sensitivity.
