SHIMANO Grappler Type Blade S66-2
Overview
Casting, reeling, hooking. A rod dedicated to mastering the essence of blade jigging.
This new series delves into the essence of the increasingly popular blade jigging game, achieving the best balance of "casting, reeling, hooking" through its unique dedicated design. Equipped with a soft tip, it minimizes wobble during ultra-fast retrieves, offering cushioning for stability in lure movement while also enhancing bite ease. The strong and resilient blanks are designed to absorb the target's powerful counterattacks, ensuring precise hooking and stable fights. The reel seat is designed with a larger diameter than conventional light jigging rods, improving grip and supporting stable reeling. Not only does it excel in vertical games, but it also handles casting, with an ideal balance that is neither too soft nor prone to wobbling, making it perfect for targeting species like Spanish mackerel and other bluefish. Experience the ultimate in blade jigging with this specialized rod, offering unparalleled performance.
Grappler Type Blade S66-2:
A powerful rod specialized for deep-sea fishing and long-distance casting.
Designed for depths of up to 100m+, it accommodates jig weights ranging from 40 to 160g for vertical fishing and up to 120g for casting. This rod excels in targeting deep-sea species and effectively covers a wide range from the surface to mid-water levels, making it ideal for scenes targeting large Spanish mackerel and other bluefish.
KEY FEATURE:
Pursuing the best balance for blade jigging.
Blade jigging, which originated from targeting Spanish mackerel off the coasts of Hiroshima and Iwakuni in the Seto Inland Sea, has since spread to Osaka Bay, the Sea of Japan, Tokyo Bay, and Kyushu. The core of this technique lies in the "attack" style of extremely fast retrieves, often described as "reel fast enough to make your reel smoke." This style provokes the target’s feeding behavior, resulting in sudden, aggressive bites and thrilling fights with large fish, captivating saltwater anglers with its high catch rate. The Grappler Blade series is specially designed for blade jigging, condensing all the necessary performance into one rod. With a soft tip and hard butt, it ensures stability during ultra-fast retrieves, while its length, resilience, cushioning, sensitivity, and power are all fine-tuned to provide the ideal balance for blade jigging. This balance creates a level of comfort and performance that cannot be achieved by repurposing rods from other fishing styles. Two models are available: the versatile S70-0 and the power-focused S68-1. Both feature a center-cut 2-piece design for enhanced portability.
Stability Created by Soft Tip and Robust Butt.
The rod features a soft tip that balances cushioning and ease of hooking, ensuring stability in lure action during fast retrieves while minimizing the chances of missed bites. This delicate balance is designed with consideration for casting performance, making it neither too soft nor too stiff. Additionally, the guides are sized and positioned to promote smooth line passage, significantly reducing line troubles. The rod's core structure incorporates Shimano's unique Spiral X and reinforced High Power X technologies, which help suppress twisting. This synergistic effect with the robust butt reduces instability during high-speed retrieves and supports precise hook sets and stable fights with large fish.
Enhanced Grip for Stable Retrieves.
The reel seat is designed with a thicker diameter than conventional light jigging rods, improving grip. This allows anglers to hold securely and apply force easily, reducing the burden and stress during continuous high-speed retrieves. It ensures a stable retrieve. Additionally, the distance from the grip end to the reel seat is set at a precise 400mm, striking the perfect balance—not too long and not too short. This design provides comfort when supporting the rod under the arm and during casting.
