SHIMANO Coltsniper Limited 98XH/JS
Overview
Seeking the untold joy in the boundless azure of the open sea.
What we aimed for was the creation of shore casting rods that transcend the limitations of the past by integrating Shimano's most advanced technology and expertise to a higher level. We pursued the thorough liberation from anglers' chronic dissatisfaction with line troubles. By thoroughly analyzing the correlation between reel size and line system, we developed the groundbreaking [X Guide: Touch-Free Titanium], overturning conventional wisdom. With its unique high-frame shape, it suppresses the fundamental causes of line troubles caused by interference with the blank touch or guide frame. At its core, the blank structure adopts the [Spiral X Core], which enhances strength in all directions, resisting bending, twisting, and compression. The intensified rebound force flexes the rod more powerfully, enabling sharp and agile casts. Furthermore, we fine-tuned the balance to ensure smooth bending of the entire blank up to the grip, making timing casts easier and mitigating the impact and stress on the body during power fights. Equipped with an original rubber grip end, it enhances stability during casting and fighting. When you experience these qualities firsthand, a new stage in shore casting games is revealed.
The combination of overwhelming strength and lightness, coupled with the pursuit of trouble-free performance, is our goal.
What we aimed for with the ColtSniper Limited was a comfortable casting feel that allows you to cast continuously, along with trouble-free performance regarding line management. Additionally, we sought strength that would enable anglers to confront record-breaking sizes of fish lurking in the rocky shores. Typically, achieving these performances would require sacrificing some technical elements, making it challenging to achieve a high level of compatibility. However, through Shimano's technology and dedication embedded throughout, we've realized these ideals into one form. The ColtSniper Limited, the series' pinnacle, is equipped with functions that break conventional wisdom, marking a new era for the series.
We focused on the grip to ensure continuous casting. Its design allows for a comfortable grip even during fights.
The grip of the ColtSniper Limited is meticulously designed with special attention to detail. Various features are incorporated throughout to ensure a firm grasp of valuable strikes.
The screw-lock joint is designed to prevent unexpected slippage, ensuring a secure connection. A dedicated tightening belt is also included for this purpose.
The screw-lock joint is a Shimano proprietary technology that connects the blanks by screwing them together, reducing looseness and slippage at the joint, thus preventing unexpected damage.
In the Colt Sniper Limited series, ensuring a firm and secure connection without loosening is crucial, especially when targeting larger fish.
The included dedicated adjuster belt allows for securely fastening the blanks together, minimizing the risk of loosening during use.

For those who are particular about operating metal jigs with precision.
In the realm of shore jigging, where the most demanding jig operations are required, a shorter rod length directly translates to reduced burden on the angler.
However, on the other hand, when fighting large pelagic fish from the dangerous bottom areas to the rocky shores, having a longer rod length proves advantageous for lifting the fish effectively.
In the contradictory realm of jig rods, where the demands of jig operations conflict with the need for a longer length during fights, the blanks are designed to alleviate the burden of jig operation while still offering an advantage in fights.
The optimal solution led to a length of 9 feet 8 inches.
The tip, with just the right amount of tension to allow for precise manipulation of metal jigs, enables anglers to move the jigs as desired and release tension when needed, allowing for complete control.
Furthermore, the robust blank power and length enable anglers to swiftly tackle the challenge from hazardous zones.
Whether fishing nearby or on remote islands, situations where only 120 to 150g metal jigs can effectively target fish are common. In conditions with strong winds, rough waves, high platforms, fast currents, or deep waters, metal jigs often become the go-to choice for comfortable fishing.
Jigging is essential wherever you go, making this rod versatile, suitable for both local rocky shores and remote islands like the Ogasawara Islands.
Challenging large pelagic fish with metal jigs from rocky shores is an extremely difficult game.
This rod is designed for anglers aiming to overcome the daunting task of landing over 20kg pelagic fish from rocky shores using metal jigs.
X Guide : Touch-Free Titanium :
Dedicated design guides for trouble-free performance.
In today's shore casting game, the use of PE lines has become mainstream. In order to enhance the trouble-free performance during this time, we have reexamined the diameter of the guides and the height of the frames from scratch. By making the guides smaller in diameter, the PE line is converged immediately after being released from the reel, reducing flutter. Furthermore, by adding height to the frame, it is less likely for the fluttering PE line to touch the blanks, preventing tangles and ensuring smoother performance.
Extreme Power Control Grip :
A unique shape designed to prevent power loss.
We designed the grip end with a unique shape to optimize usability for rock shore fishing. During casting, it's easier to apply force with the pulling hand, while during the fight, it facilitates waist-loaded fighting. This design not only prevents power loss but also enhances the rod's maneuverability. The use of rubber material is intended for scenarios where the rod butt may come into contact with the ground during the fight. This reduces the risk of abrasion compared to EVA material.
Jerking Assist Rear Grip :
A specialized shape to enhance plug maneuverability.
We designed the rear grip with flat sides to enhance maneuverability when using plugs. By flattening both sides of the rear grip, we've increased stability when gripping it between your arm and body, making plug manipulation more comfortable. This design allows for easier movement in all directions, improving stability during the fight with the fish.
V Hold Front Grip :
An easy-to-grip handle that enables powerful fights.
The firm grip provided by the front grip enables anglers to lift up large fish during fights effectively. This grip also contributes to controlling the plug or jig during fishing operations.
Long nut :
Accommodates a wide range of reel sizes.
The adoption of the long nut allows compatibility with large-sized reels as well. As a guideline, it is designed to fit Shimano reel sizes ranging from 6000 to 14000.
Screw Lock Joint :
The screw-lock joint features a special structure that makes it easy to assemble and disassemble.
It is a mechanism where twisting, much like a screw, increases the strength of the joint. In the demanding conditions of rock shore fishing, this prevents the rod from unexpectedly coming apart, ensuring a secure connection even under high load.
