MEGABASS Brand new Destroyer F5.1/2-72X "The X-Bites"
Overview
IN 1995, YUKI ITO PROTOTYPED THE DESTROYER® OF TRADITIONAL BASS RODS, DRAWING UPON HIS HAND-CARVED ARMS TO UNLEASH AN UNRIVALED FUSION OF CRAFT AND TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATION UPON THE JAPANESE BASS MARKET. EACH SUBSEQUENT GENERATION OF DESTROYER® REACHED BEYOND THE STANDARDS AND CONVENTIONS OF THEIR TIME TO ESTABLISH A NEW BENCHMARK. A QUARTER-CENTURY LATER, “PROJECT LIVING LEGEND” WAS ESTABLISHED TO ENSURE THAT EACH CYCLE OF DESTRUCTION AND CREATION THROUGH INNOVATION PRESERVED MEGABASS’ RICH DNA, BRINGING ANGLERS EVER-CLOSER TO THE IDEAL.
Named in honor of the storied "X-Bites" Japanese fishing program, the F5.1/2-72X rises to the challenge of extreme conditions and unspeakably tough bites. The extra-fast taper of THE X-BITES commands bottom contact rigs in the depths with supreme confidence, delivering pinpoint feedback to heighten angler awareness and lure presentation. In addition to staple ½ and ¾oz weights, THE X-BITES is able to handle lighter Texas rigs in deeper water, adding a subtly devastating option to fill out limits on tough days. The rod's lightweight and balanced design, coupled with intense sensitivity, delivers the kind of performance that will conquer the toughest competitions.
NAME DECODING :
NEW GENERATION HYPER TECHNOLOGIES :
The blank technology newly developed through the experimental LAIHA project is the 5-D GRAPHITE SYSTEM. As the name implies, this blank construction methodology leverages five prepreg patterns to best address five elements—vertical axis, horizontal axis, oblique axis, elongation and elasticity— and combine each in a painstaking puzzle matrix to maximize the application-specific performance of every blank. The cohesiveness of each completed puzzle enables a fusion of disparate parts, reducing the unnecessary prepreg overlap of traditional patterning and layering. This not only reduces material waste; it allows for a more precisely smooth taper and seamless load transition for truly intuitive performance.
DESTROYER HEAD LOCKING SYSTEM 3 (PAT.) :
Based on the machined-aluminum head-locking structure developed in the LAIHA concept project, the new Destroyer® HEAD LOCKING SYSTEM 3 is optimized for production status. The structure is the lightest of all Destroyer® series to-date, minimizing any potential interference in blank resonance and vibration transmission through the reel, in addition to highlighting the purpose-built elegance of each rod model.
IBCS (ITO BIONOMICS CASTING SEAT)(D.PAT)
Guided by angler bionomics, the Megabass original IBCS reel seat is an achievement in angler/equipment integration, ushering in a new era of comfort, utility, and performance. Minimalistic grip contours and stable short-trigger design allow for intuitive grip transitions as the angler moves through the cycle of casting, rod work, hookset and landing.
Blank contact areas are maximized to deliver precise feedback without sacrificing control. Carefully formed squat-trigger design is wide and short to provide the grip you need to cast heavy lures and manage hard-pulling crankbaits.
Regardless of your preferred style, the new IBCS seat inspires confident grip for every situation.
FUJI TITANIUM FRAME SiC-S GUIDE :
To further reduce unnecessary weight and improve performance, the Destroyer® utilizes a smaller-diameter thread made of special fiber, which allows for tighter, more effective guide wraps. This not only minimizes the wrap area and associated epoxy to reduce weight—it minimizes any Negative impact that hard epoxy guide wraps can have on the natural bend-curve of the blank. The result is a smoother, more intuitive blank with minimalistic threading for maximum strength and performance.
DESTROYER 3D EMBLEM :
If you look closely, you can see the "Brand New Destroyer" logo, which has been updated from the previous logo. This time too, it was created from Yuki Ito's handwriting, so if it looks the same as before, it can be said that the core philosophy has been inherited. "3D Emblem" is a three-dimensional three-dimensional plate of this new Destroyer logo, and each blank has artwork. This is a new expression method for the "Brand New Destroyer", which eliminates even the epoxy top coating and is particular about making the blanks as light as possible.
END BALANCER (COLOR:BRONZE METEO) :
"Brand New Destroyer", such as the F6-69X, which is a comfortable lightweight rod but actually has a built-in weight of 8g, has an amazing blank unit weight that is actually even lighter than the rod weight listed. The end balancer, which has been inherited by successive Destroyer originals since the Destroyer (Phase 1) that debuted in the 1990s, contributes to masterful rod balancing. Even if you intentionally increase the weight of the rod, it is installed with priority on accurate rod positioning and shaft balancing according to the method. The butt emblem of past Destroyers that shines in gold will finally be in the "Bronze Meteor" color from the "Brand New Destroyer".
