DAIWA Alphas Air 5.8R
Overview
The third bait finesse machine with a wider range of uses thanks to its saltwater compatibility
With a newly designed G1 duralumin air spool, it can be used in a wide range of situations, from freshwater to marine lure scenes. While it has the sharp performance of a bait finesse machine, the gear ratio has been revised to give it versatility from casting to winding, and its moderate mildness makes it easy to use for core anglers and beginners alike. It can cover a wide range of fishing from 6lb. to 12lb. class, and is a well-balanced bait finesse reel with a wide range of uses from shore fishing to boat and saltwater finesse.
G1 duralumin AIR spool (Φ32mm)
The spool is made of "G1 duralumin," a material that is approximately 1.3 times stronger than the super duralumin used for spools as the strongest aluminum material. The characteristics of this material, which boasts twice the strength of magnesium, have been thoroughly verified through CAE strength analysis of the spool's limit strength simulation system to achieve the optimal design. The light casting feel is truly worthy of the name "AIR".
Air brake system
A brake system with extremely little backlash, excellent accuracy, and stress-free usability. The combination of a lightweight inductor rotor structure and a lightweight spool greatly improves the rotation response of the spool unit. The setting aims for a synergistic effect with the effective mag brake with clear on and off, so the brakes work well during full casts, but the inductor rotor does not pop out during low rotations such as pitching, allowing you to shoot with a low trajectory. In other words, the spool rises sharply even with a small force, and the lure flies surprisingly well without any effort, and conversely, the brakes are applied firmly to the backlash zone caused by tension. As a result, the same brake setting provides a comfortable balance between pitching and casting at a high level.
80mm crank handle & ZAION star drag
The star drag has a large diameter long arm of 30mm. Since the tip of the arm is close to the reel body, you can easily perform a "one-handed flip" by flicking the star drag with your middle finger to remove line slack. The material, ZAION, is a carbon resin with high-density carbon fiber woven into it, and has the ideal properties of being stronger than magnesium in terms of strength to weight, highly rigid and lightweight, and resistant to corrosion, unlike metal.
Super Metal Frame
The frame is made of super metal (high-strength aluminum), and has high rigidity against twisting during reeling, reducing power loss and enabling powerful winding.
Speed Shaft
The spool and shaft are separated when the spool is free, and the shaftless structure provides high rotation performance.
Ultimate Tournament Drag
The unique carbon washer and grease are used to eliminate initial bite. If you set it arbitrarily with the star drag, the line will slide out smoothly and evenly, and it will follow smoothly even if the fish suddenly rushes forward, preventing line breakage.
Drag Adjustment Click
A mechanism that makes a clicking sound when adjusting the drag.
Shower cleaning
Can be washed with running water. (After cleaning, maintenance such as oiling is required according to the instruction manual.)
