DAIWA Gekkabijin Air TW 8.5R PE Special
Overview
In 2005, the "Gekkabijin" tackle for light saltwater fishing first appeared in the DAIWA lineup. Like a gorgeously blooming flower, the Gekkabijin dances and inspires anglers.
Gekkabijin tackle has evolved to take on horse mackerel, a familiar target that sometimes requires an extremely delicate approach, and cunning large rockfish that hide in the shade of rocks or between seaweed, cautiously waiting for bait to appear nearby. Gekkabijin will continue to evolve with anglers, providing them with joy and fun like they have never experienced before. The Gekkabijin's gorgeous glow will continue to illuminate the light saltwater fishing game.

Get it in your hands.
The comfort that lies ahead.
The freedom from line troubles by TWS, which smoothly sends out the released line, takes you to an unconventional stress-free dimension.
You can even cast lures in the 1g range with bait tackle.
Freedom from "line trouble" sought by SW bait finesse anglers.
To achieve both the low trajectory pitching and long casting performance of micro lures using PE line, a Φ28mm G1 duralumin PE-specific AIR spool and TWS that maximizes line release are required, achieving unexplored territory.
The brakes are tuned with AIR brake PE, so you can reliably cast over 20m even with micro lures.
The drag pull click lets you know the drag's effectiveness against sudden thrusts, and the drag sound supports you in battles with the line tension at its very limit.
Master it or take on the challenge?
This is for expert anglers who mainly use plugging and also enjoy delicate operations such as single jigs with bait tackle.
HYPERDRIVE DESIGN
The next-generation design concept for bait (double-axis) reels, which significantly improves the standard of all basic performance with the aim of maintaining high initial performance for a long time. The Hyper Drive Design is composed of up to four technologies. Hyper Double Support, which requires the Hyper Drive Digigear to maintain smooth rotation for a long time and assists the gear drive to provide strong and light winding. Hyper Armed Housing, which strongly supports the internal structure and is less likely to bend or distort. Hyper Tough Clutch with an insulating structure that continues to operate even in harsh locations and drastically reduces adhesion due to salt. The synergistic effect of these technologies continues to provide stable performance in any field.
HYPERDRIVE DIGIGEAR
A newly designed gear system that pursues sustained strong and smooth rotation. This is DAIWA's unique technology that achieves an increased meshing rate without reducing the module (size) of the gear teeth, which directly affects durability, allowing the initial smoothness to be maintained for a long time.
HYPER DOUBLE SUPPORT
A drive support system that achieves sustained smoothness and strong, light winding. Both ends of the pinion gear are supported with two ball bearings with high precision, allowing for strong, light winding even under load without attenuating the input from the handle.
HYPER ARMED HOUSING (FULL AL)
A housing system that firmly supports the internal structure with high rigidity and precision, producing a precise winding feel and power. The use of metal materials for the frame, which is the essential condition, makes it possible to continue to exert basic performance for an even longer period of time by combining it with side plates and set plates.
HYPER TOUGH CLUTCH
Not only does this clutch system have crisp on/off performance that continues to slide thousands or tens of thousands of times, but it also has extremely few problems even in highly saline seawater. This cutting-edge insulation structure has already reduced the number of repairs due to sticking in harsh saltwater environments by 99% compared to our previous model.
TWS (T-WING SYSTEM)
TWS has succeeded in significantly reducing the resistance of the line guide close to the spool, where the spool rotation speed is the highest. By reducing the resistance to the casting distance, not only is the casting distance and controllability improved, but the fall is also faster and backlash is reduced. This has realized the possibility of a new level wind not only when winding, but also when casting.
UTD (Ultimate Tournament Drag)
This is a Daiwa drag system that eliminates the initial bite when the drag first starts working, achieving a smooth drag without stickiness (unevenness), while also providing maximum drag power the more you tighten it.
ZERO SHAFT
The spool is only supported by the bottom bracket. The shaftless design eliminates excess resistance and provides ideal spool rotation.
In other words, it is the key to a high-output engine that prioritizes casting performance.
Zero Adjuster
First, adjust the "zero adjuster" and set the "zero spool rattle". Thanks to the evolution of the magnetic brake, it is now possible to control all lures with just the mag dial.
The "zero adjuster" is a mechanism that allows you to enjoy fishing comfortably without malfunctions while fishing by adjusting it to the "zero setting" before starting fishing.
*The "zero spool rattle" setting is the setting that does not push the spool while leaving a slight rattle (about 0.2 mm).
Air Brake System
This brake system significantly improves accuracy while providing stress-free usability with extremely little backlash. The brakes work well during full casts, and the inductor rotor does not pop out during low rotations such as pitching, allowing you to shoot with a low trajectory, achieving a high level of pitching and casting.
Φ28mm G1 duralumin AIR spool for PE
Made of "G1 duralumin", which is approximately 1.3 times stronger than the super duralumin used for spools as the strongest aluminum material. If you want to improve finesse performance, keep the amount of line wound to less than half the spool line to make it easier to handle lightweight rigs.
*The recommended amount of line wound is PE 0.6-50m. Do not use PE line 1 or more or lures over 10g as they will greatly exceed the appropriate usage conditions of this reel.
*This product has a brake setting with the recommended amount of line wound.
*The scale of the mag dial will change depending on the rod you combine it with.
*PE-only spool: Since we have perfected the setting with PE line, nylon and fluoro lines, which have a large stretch of line and damage the spool strength, cannot be used.
Drag pull click
Drag pull click is a structure that makes a clicking sound when the line is pulled out during a fight with a fish, so that you can tell that the drag is working by the sound.
