Overview

Achieving the lightest class in flatfish rods! The extraordinary sensitivity provided by SMT + AGS transmits even the faintest signs of flatfish to the angler in any situation.

  • Ultimate Sensitivity and Bite Detection Performance
    • With the power to lift a 10kg large flatfish, this rod delivers superior sensitivity and bite detection.
    • The rod features AGS guides, with the tip’s SMT tuned to a finer diameter. This allows for exceptional sensitivity, not only detecting subtle movements of live bait but also clearly sensing underwater conditions.
    • By enhancing the butt power, the rod ensures a more relaxed fight even with flatfish over 10kg.
    • With the adoption of ESS and a new balance theory, combined with a supple tip section, it achieves an exquisite balance of bite detection and operability, resulting in an ultra-sensitive action.

Comparison with Previous Model:

  • Tip Section: By further enhancing the flexibility of the SMT and tubular parts, both bite detection and visual sensitivity have been improved.
  • Butt Section: A slight power increase enhances both operability and stability during fights.

Daiwa Technologies:

Expert Sensory Simulation System [ESS]

When a rod bends, it generates an energy (restoring force) trying to straighten in the opposite direction of the bend. This is called strain energy, the energy a deformed (strained) blank possesses as it tries to return to its original form. Strain energy is a crucial factor influencing the rod’s performance. Daiwa has developed a unique system for analyzing and designing strain energy, enabling it to clearly understand what aspects of the rod are superior and which areas are lacking. Not only does this system quantify these factors, but it also incorporates the angler's sensory experience into the design, bringing the rod closer to what the angler desires.

SMT (SuperMetalTop)

SMT (SuperMetalTop) is Daiwa’s proprietary technology that uses a super-elastic titanium alloy material in the rod’s tip section. This metal, unlike carbon, amplifies vibrations, offering sensitivity that is impossible with carbon materials. It combines the strength and durability typical of metal, along with the delicate flexibility to bend smoothly with even the slightest movements, making it excellent at transmitting both hand sensitivity and visual bite detection to the angler.

AGS (Air Guide System)

The AGS (Air Guide System) achieves lightweight construction and high sensitivity by adopting a carbon frame. Compared to titanium, carbon has about three times the rigidity, which allows even the slightest signals transmitted through the line to reach the blank without absorption, ensuring exceptional sensitivity. Additionally, the lightweight properties of carbon contribute to reducing the overall weight of the rod, particularly improving sensitivity through the lightened tip section.

AIR SENSOR SEAT

The Air Sensor Seat, made with carbon fiber, provides weight reduction, high strength, and high sensitivity. It is specially designed according to the rod’s intended use, offering operability that cannot be experienced with standard reel seats.

V-JOINTα

By using high-strength Nano Alloy material in the joint section and applying Daiwa’s precise processing techniques, V-JOINTα was created, evolving the original V-Joint to be even stronger, lighter, and with smoother action. In rods with more joints, it enables shorter joints, contributing to both strength and lightweight design.

X45

To prevent twisting (torsion) that occurs during actions like casting, hooking, and fighting, Daiwa’s years of research concluded that in addition to traditional 0° and 90° fiber orientations, using a 45° biaxial cross (carbon fibers aligned at ±45° angles) is the optimal solution. By incorporating X45, twisting is prevented, leading to a dramatic improvement in power, operability, and sensitivity.

■Equipped with the Flexible yet Highly Sensitive ‘SMT’

The SMT, which balances both flexibility and sensitivity, is an excellent match for flounder fishing. It excels in sensitivity and strength, effectively detecting even the delicate bites from low-activity fish. The lightweight short design, optimized for sensitivity and operability, reduces the overall weight, ensuring easy handling.

■Full AGS Equipped for the First Season

The AGS carbon frame, which offers higher hardness and sensitivity compared to titanium, is fully equipped. It achieves exceptional tactile sensitivity, lightweight design, and improved operability by eliminating any feeling of heaviness.

■High-Sensitivity Lightweight Air Sensor Seat – Slim Fit

The reel seat is made from carbon-reinforced resin, optimized for lightweight design, high rigidity, and strength. By balancing both lightness and rigidity, it enhances sensitivity, providing an exceptional air sensor seat.

The matte-finish nameplate adds a smarter, more refined look.
Additionally, the full ocean blue coating enhances its presence, successfully elevating its identity as the "Kyokugen" series.

The butt section also features the specially developed "AGS" designed for boat rods.
By avoiding the use of large guides, it maintains the distance between the material and the line when bent, allowing for smoother bending without hindering the lightweight design or the material's flex.
