DAIWA 21 Zillion SV TW 1000XHL

Overview

What we at DAIWAWORKS look for in a spinning reel can be summed up in one word: "usability." A machine that all anglers can ride will never disappoint you. Even when faced with an unexpected scene, the three pillars of durability, rotation, and operability are the reassuring specs that allow you to maximize your output. All of these are possible when synchronized. Until now, DAIWA has only promoted its outstanding technology, and has not disclosed the many excellent features that come with it in order to avoid complicating things. In 2021, DAIWA once again proclaims that technology and experience are its greatest weapons. With the introduction of the NEW ZILLION, we have decided to make all of DAIWA's technology available globally.

HYPERDRIVE DESIGN
The next-generation design concept for bait (double-axis) reels, which significantly improves the standard of all basic performance with the aim of maintaining high initial performance for a long time. The Hyper Drive Design is composed of up to four technologies. Hyper Double Support, which requires the Hyper Drive Digigear to maintain smooth rotation for a long time and assists the gear drive to provide strong and light winding. Hyper Armed Housing, which strongly supports the internal structure and is less likely to bend or distort. Hyper Tough Clutch with an insulating structure that continues to operate even in harsh locations and drastically reduces adhesion due to salt. The synergistic effect of these technologies continues to provide stable performance in any field.

HYPERDRIVE DIGIGEAR
A newly designed gear system that pursues sustained strong and smooth rotation. This is DAIWA's unique technology that achieves an increased meshing rate without reducing the module (size) of the gear teeth, which directly affects durability, allowing the initial smoothness to be maintained for a long time.

HYPER DOUBLE SUPPORT
A drive support system that achieves sustained smoothness and strong, light winding. Both ends of the pinion gear are supported with two ball bearings with high precision, allowing for strong, light winding even under load without attenuating the input from the handle.

HYPER ARMED HOUSING (AL)
A housing system that firmly supports the internal structure with high rigidity and precision, producing a precise winding feel and power. The use of metal materials for the frame, which is the key, is a prerequisite, and in combination with the side plate and set plate, it makes it possible to continue to demonstrate basic performance for even longer.
This series uses aluminum alloy for the frame, gear side plate, and dial side set plate. It is a full metal housing specification that realizes unparalleled strength.

HYPER TOUGH CLUTCH
Not only does this clutch system have crisp on/off performance that continues to slide thousands or tens of thousands of times, but it also has extremely few problems even in saltwater with high salinity. This cutting-edge insulation structure has already reduced the number of repairs due to sticking in harsh saltwater environments by 99% compared to our previous model.

UTD (Ultimate Tournament Drag)
This is a Daiwa drag system that eliminates the initial bite when the drag first starts working, achieving a smooth drag without stickiness (unevenness), while also providing maximum drag power the more you tighten it.

Zero Adjuster
First, adjust the "zero adjuster" and set the "spool backlash zero". Thanks to the evolution of the magnetic brake, it is now possible to control all lures with just the mag dial.
The "zero adjuster" is a mechanism that allows you to enjoy fishing comfortably without malfunctions during fishing by adjusting it to the "zero setting" before starting fishing.

ZERO SHAFT
The spool is only supported by the bottom bracket. The shaftless design eliminates excess resistance and provides ideal spool rotation.
In other words, it is the key to a high-output engine that prioritizes casting performance.

TWS (T-WING SYSTEM)
TWS has succeeded in significantly reducing the resistance of the line guide close to the spool, where the spool rotation speed is the highest. By reducing the resistance to the casting distance, not only is the casting distance and controllability improved, but the fall is also faster and backlash is reduced. This has realized the possibility of a new level wind not only when winding, but also when casting.

Compact body/thumb rest position
The new ZILLION is clad in a new, ultra-bright silver color that belongs to the expanding color category, but it is clearly more compact than the previous model, which is a contracting blue-gray color.
The thumb rest ensures stress-free positioning based on ergonomics.

Handle
High spec steel for shooting and winding
The length is 90mm, which is more suited to power fishing, both for shooting and winding. The material is aluminum, which is both strong and lightweight, just like the housing. The high-precision handle is drawn out of solid board material without any errors, and maintains outstanding strength along with its ample board thickness. The shape offset toward the housing side approaches the center of the rotation axis, achieving a more stable winding feel.
The I-shaped knob is lightweight and thin, and promotes a light winding feel, and uses high-grip rubber that sticks to your fingers. It is noteworthy that the excellent grip does not slip even when wet with rain, and fits the palm of your fingers dry in low temperatures. Even when hooking unexpectedly, your fingers will accurately catch the fish, leading to instant handle rotation. There is no compromise in even the smallest details to ensure that the prey is not missed.

SV BOOST
SV concept goes to Ver.2021. Realizes an extra stretch in the latter half of the cast.
The conventional SV spool is a brake unit that exerts the right braking force for any lure by combining a spool with a small moment of inertia with an inductor rotor that can receive a large braking force during excessive rotation.
The stable braking force, which is neither too strong nor too weak, has penetrated the world as a mechanism that always promises safe casting.
DAIWA's next goal was to develop the spool "SV BOOST" that achieves an extra stretch in the latter half of the cast while taking advantage of the characteristics of the SV.

While the fixed inductor rotor Magforce is constantly subjected to braking force, the SV, which controls the inductor rotor in two stages (ON/OFF), controls the braking force at high spool rotation and converges in a curve. SV BOOST achieves an extra stretch by switching to a weaker braking force in the latter half of the cast.

The SV Spool, the mechanism that underpins the SV concept, has evolved even further. This is a new future standard construction called "SV BOOST".
The conventional SV Spool is the name of a spool unit with an inductor rotor that can receive a large braking force during excessive rotation, as opposed to a spool with a small moment of inertia. Its excellent characteristics are known for its improved compatibility with a wide range of lures, from light to heavy, and for its lightweight, highly accurate spool performance and trouble-free, light casting.
However, the new mechanism, SV BOOST, is not just a spool unit. The evolution of the AIR brake system has made it possible to take the stress-free and versatile concept itself to the next level.
The biggest feature is the mechanism in which the inductor rotor jumps out in two stages, controlling the spool rotation with what could be called a "three-stage braking force". In addition to the existing stroke, the coil spring control provides a new reserve of one more stage of stroke.
The conventional SV + AIR brake system controls the spool rotation in only two stages, ON or OFF. During high rotations such as finesse casts and full casts, the inductor rotor turns ON and instantly jumps out to control the initial speed. On the other hand, during low rotations such as pitching, it does not jump out and maintains the OFF state, allowing even lightweight lures to rotate freely without being affected by the magnetic field.
The advantage of the SV is that it is always trouble-free and can cast with a light force to give it a great flight. It can be said that the rock-solid stress-free nature of the wide range of practical bass fishing certainly meets the needs of modern anglers.
However, on the other hand, with only two stages of control, the ON state continues until just before the lure hits the water, which can be said to leave something to be desired in the final stretch. The SV's light spool allows for high rotations and stress-free braking force, but during full casts, the high rotations tend to cause people to increase the braking force to avoid trouble. As a result, the stretch in the latter half of the cast is easily spoiled.
DAIWA has made a change to the conventional two-stage ON/OFF brake structure. A stage called brake force 1 has been added between the two extremes of brake force 0 and 2. The minimum and maximum brake forces remain the same, giving a total of three stages of brake force. This is the basic structure of SV BOOST.
The SV BOOST inductor rotor reaches brake force 2, or stage 3, in one go during a full cast. It instantly applies brake force when the spool is rotating at 15,000 rpm (revolutions per minute) or more, controlling excessive rotation. First, it avoids back crashing in the over-rotation zone immediately after the spool starts up, but what is noteworthy is the inductor rotor operation that occurs immediately after that.
With a conventional two-stage brake system, the spool transitions from ON to OFF and into free rotation just before hitting the water. However, with SV BOOST, the second back crash zone caused by over-rotation of the spool when the lure passes the peak of its trajectory and starts to lose speed is controlled, and immediately after controlling the zone, the brake force is switched to 1, i.e., stage 2, to control excessive braking. A weak brake force is applied in the 5000 rpm range to prevent excessive line release, and it is completely turned off just before the lure hits the water. By gradually loosening the control without continuing strong control, it succeeded in achieving another extension in the latter half of the cast trajectory.
In addition, with a finesse cast, the induct rotor controls the brakes up to brake 1, i.e., stage 2. It maintains the optimal brake force, just like in the latter half of a full cast.
This three-stage structure is the greatest advantage of SV BOOST. Whether at low or high rpm, the automatic control according to the cast input successfully achieves trouble-free extension in the latter half of the cast. The distance test showed a 4% increase, but even more than that, the extension in the latter half of the cast was a major improvement in both the smooth casting feel and the improved cast accuracy on low trajectories.

SV BOOST exerts three stages of braking force. During a full cast, the inductor rotor jumps out at a braking force of 2, controlling excessive spool rotation. Once the spool has passed its peak and slowed down, it is once again controlled by braking force 1, before dropping to braking force 0. The increased braking force of SV BOOST contributes to an extra stretch in the latter half of the cast without having to tighten the mag dial.

G1 DURALMIN SPOOL
by SV CONCEPT
A one-of-a-kind product that combines lightness and strength.
A special aluminum alloy called G1 duralumin that is twice as strong as magnesium and 1.3 times as strong as extra-super duralumin. This material maintains its ultra-lightweight and excellent rigidity, and is the highest grade of lightweight alloy used in aircraft structural materials and precision instruments. To maintain the same strength, it is possible to maintain sufficient strength by simply thinning the spool's thread winding surface without blanking, in order to achieve an overwhelming sense of lightness. The high rotation response brought about by the lightness and the unparalleled precision of rotation due to the high rigidity are unmatched.

MAGNET BRAKE
Magnetic current controls rotation optimally (also known as electromagnetic induction brake)
DAIWA's unique electromagnetic induction brake system uses a specially designed ultra-strong magnet made by sintering neodymium magnets. The mechanism is that the current generated between the opposing magnets in the magnet unit creates an electromagnetic force in the opposite direction to the pure rotation of the conductor called the inductor rotor mounted on the spool, which leads to a braking force. It is important to note that magnetic force does not simply suppress the rotation of the spool.
