The Acteon Magnum EX, which has pioneered new horizons for giant bait alongside Balam, is not just about stiffness but flexibility. It reduces the physical strain of casting super-heavy lures while ensuring a high hook-up rate by not bouncing off valuable bites. It was the ideal rod for handling the Balam 300, which weighs 168g (6oz class).

However, Shimada, after witnessing the astonishing power concealed within the lightweight design of the Black Rose from the Orion series, felt there was still room for evolution. In response to the passionate demands of the "world's best Balam user," who wanted "longer, lighter, stronger," a rod that enhances all these seemingly contradictory elements was born—the ultimate sword in the Orion series: The Throne.

Longer, lighter, and stronger. The Orion’s most powerful sword, which has undergone destructive evolution. Compared to the Acteon Magnum EX, the length has been increased (from 7'9" to 7'11") while achieving weight reduction (from 187g to 177g), and the lure weight range has increased from 6oz to 10oz. Improvements in lifting power have also been demonstrated through both break strength and field tests. Moreover, the grip, which is critical for casting and operating giant baits, inherits the size and shape of the Acteon Magnum EX, making it ideal for the precise casting and Eight Trap® method. All advancements are due to the evolution of the blank performance.

The primary material in the blank construction is the ultra-high-strength, high-elastic carbon "Torayca® T1100G," known for both strength and lightness, providing incredible repulsive force. The tip and belly are made of 24-ton carbon for flexibility, while the butt section is reinforced with 40-ton carbon for sharp operability, combined with quattro woven cross to aggressively suppress twisting. This combination results in a giant bait rod with a lightweight feel that belies its 7'11" length, yet offers formidable power and incredible resilience.

The intertwined elements of length, lightness, and strength significantly enhance the angler's advantage. The giant bait, often ending in mere chases, can now be cast further than ever before. With minimal effort, just letting the rod do the work, the immense repulsive force of the 7'11" shaft sends the heavy bait flying far. This lightweight advantage, along with the powerful recovery, allows for long casts while reducing physical strain, enabling the angler to keep casting giant baits all day long—a key to success in giant bait fishing.

Moreover, casting the bait far beyond the target and adjusting the retrieve course through line-mending is a common practice in giant bait fishing, and the expanded adjustment range makes this process easier and more efficient. Every cast requires this, so the ability to perform these movements smoothly and quickly is a big advantage.

The Eight Trap® trick can now be set further away from the boat. The rod’s design allows quick, sharp twitches with just one hand while holding the grip end of the long rod. By giving the giant bait crisp turns and adjusting the course and speed based on the bass's reactions, it becomes possible to catch fish that previously evaded capture. The Throne excels in following bites without missing and capturing them. It has the lifting power to subdue and bring to the surface even the most violent surges of monster fish—making it the most powerful rod in the Orion series.

The main shaft is constructed with high-strength, high-modulus carbon fiber "Torayca® T1100G" and "Nanoalloy® technology," wrapped with mid-modulus 24-ton carbon. The butt section is reinforced with high-modulus 40-ton carbon and Quattro Woven Cross. This combination provides supple strength and strong recovery force, while maintaining a lightweight feel despite the 7-foot-11-inch double extra-heavy specification.

Quattro Woven Cross
The butt section features Quattro Woven Cross, which has a higher layering density and thickness compared to conventional Quattro (4-axis) Cross. This strongly suppresses twisting and crushing of the blank.
