LTD PRO RS: The Ultimate Precision with Forbidden RT Tubular Tip
The 5th-generation Limited Pro RS now features the "Forbidden RT Tubular" spare tip. The RT (Radical Taper) Tubular surpasses the limits of tubular design, achieving an ultra-fast taper for extreme precision and control.
This rod is designed with a highly balanced body that seamlessly supports both the RS Solid and RT Tubular tips.
RT Tubular Tip:
Features an ultra-fast taper, allowing only the very tip to bend sharply.
Offers high sensitivity, quick response, and lightweight handling, characteristic of tubular tips.
Delivers near-solid precision and enhanced line control, enabling highly responsive manipulation.
RS Solid Tip:
Ensures effortless zero line control with its ultra-flexible tip section.
Excels in high-precision low-load operation, maximizing the natural swimming action of the baitfish.
Not only gentle on baitfish but also enhances their aggressive tail movements, making it a highly effective attack rod.
Experience extreme control and unparalleled sensitivity—a revolution in rod performance with the Limited Pro RS.
KEY FEATURES
The True Essence of a Rod Lies in Its Tip
Hard Sensitivity & Precise Operability
The RS is designed for aggressive fishing, and its solid tip plays a crucial role.
Renowned angler Keigo Shima once told us: "The RS is an aggressive rod."
While a solid tip is often associated with defensive fishing, Shima strongly disagrees. Maintaining constant movement of the baitfish requires an extremely delicate tension range—something that is difficult to achieve with a tubular tip. This necessity led to the development of the RS Solid.
However, solid tips also have their limitations. When it comes to sharp sensitivity and optimal response, the tubular tip has an undeniable advantage. In fast currents, when using large baitfish or weights, mastering a solid tip requires extra skill.
To suit the Limited Pro RS, the tip had to achieve ultra-precise control—a non-negotiable trait for aggressive fishing. However, as the RS Solid improved, its limitations became clearer.
RT Tubular – The Perfect Balance of Precision and Sensitivity
The RT Tubular tip is designed with an ultra-steep taper (Radical Taper), making it exceptionally thin and flexible at the tip. The lightweight, hollow structure of a tubular tip naturally enhances vibration transmission, resulting in superior sensitivity.
However, if the tip is made too thin in pursuit of precision, it becomes too soft, losing the necessary resilience for vibration transmission—diminishing sensitivity. To counter this, the RT Tubular features an Excite Top design, where the very tip section is intentionally stiffened to amplify vibrations.
Thus, the RT Tubular was born—offering the lightness and responsiveness of a tubular tip while retaining the fine control of a solid tip. By leveraging advanced engineering, this tip pushes the boundaries of traditional tubular designs, making it ideal for mid-to-high-load fishing.
The rod itself has been fine-tuned to accommodate the RT Tubular, ensuring seamless performance. While the previous model prioritized an ultra-sharp, rigid body to maximize the solid tip, the new design maintains a tight control feel while introducing more resilience and flex, enhancing overall usability.
The combination of a soft, responsive tip (approximately 20 cm) and a smoothly bending body results in an ultra-fast action that makes baitfish movement effortless. The casting and retrieval experience is exceptionally smooth.
Whether using the RS Solid or the RT Tubular, slightly bending the tip while fishing is key. By lifting the baitfish's head just enough, you can feel its tail movements through both visual (eye sensitivity) and tactile (hand sensitivity) feedback, creating an immersive fishing experience.
Comparison of RS Solid & RT Tubular Tips
RS Solid Tip
Ultra-sharp taper, highly flexible solid tip
Exceptional tracking ability, allowing the baitfish to move naturally with minimal effort
Effortless zero-slack control for automatic adjustments
Keeps baitfish lively and reduces fatigue, making it easier to handle small baitfish
Ideal for pinpoint control and reaction-based movements
RT Tubular Tip
Similar sharp taper to the RS Solid, but with a tubular structure
Softer than traditional tubular tips for precise control
Retains the lightweight feel, sharp sensitivity, and high responsiveness of a tubular tip
Enables fast-paced fishing with excellent feedback
Enhances visual and tactile sensitivity while improving adaptability to larger fish
Serves as a power-type tip for high-load fishing scenarios
Both tips slightly lift the baitfish's nose, causing strong tail movement, which is clearly felt during use.
The Two “RS-Style” Tips Designed by Keigo Shima
Renowned angler Keigo Shima believes the ideal tip should feel like “a rod within a rod”—a natural curve that integrates seamlessly with the overall rod action.
As he demonstrated by bending two tips, he explained: "The ideal tip should follow the same curvature as the entire rod."
The RS Solid exhibits a smooth curve, while the RT Tubular bends into a sharper, "V" shape.
But why introduce a tubular tip in an RS (Radical Solid) series rod? The answer lies in history. The RS series spans 20 years, mirroring Shima’s journey as a tournament angler. His first Japan Cup victory was won using the original RS rod.
"My fishing style hasn’t changed in 20 years, but the original RS had a tip that was half solid and half tubular," he recalls.
Today’s RS Solid has reduced the solid section to just 20 cm, refining the concept of a "rod within a rod." Advances in technology have now allowed the rod itself to do the work.
Expanding Versatility with the RT Tubular
Shima’s ideal fishing method involves keeping the baitfish swimming within a small, controlled sphere—something the RS Solid excels at. However, it had limited adaptability to different conditions.
With the addition of the RT Tubular as an interchangeable tip, the Limited Pro RS now offers greater flexibility for varying fish sizes, techniques, and environments.
Shima has always switched between solid and tubular tips as needed—favoring tubular tips for high-load fishing scenarios like targeting large fish in rapids. He never believed in being restricted to solid tips alone.
However, he always sought a tip that retained the essence of the RS Solid while offering greater load tolerance—which has now materialized as the RT Tubular.
In his eyes, both the RS Solid and RT Tubular embody the "RS-style" approach to precision fishing.
