CK-101MS – Into the Extreme of Directability

“Cookai” delivers an exhilarating, uncompromising rod.

A 10'1" multipurpose mid-long shaft that shows its true value in open environments such as surf zones and large river mouths. Developed through rigorous refinement to maximize long-range casting performance for plugging across expansive areas. It handles 110–140 mm class minnows precisely, along with big minnows around 40 g, and fully supports a wide range of heavy lures including 20–30 g vibrations, metal jigs, heavy sinking pencils, and heavy vibes.

The 5D Graphite System provides unmatched shaft rigidity and sharp recovery speed, generating tremendous propulsion during the cast. The specialized guide layout and the latest blanks built with the 5D graphite construction deliver extremely fast spring-back convergence, reducing resistance during line release. This creates an arrow-like, ultra-straight liner cast that cuts through strong crosswinds and headwinds commonly encountered in open water.

Its light, well-balanced feel reduces fatigue, while the exceptional directability enables intuitive reading of currents and bottom contours and accurately detects distant bites. The long shaft also combines immense butt power for quickly controlling monster seabass, and fully demonstrates its long-distance plugging performance when targeting blue-runners or flatfish.

TECHNOLOGY

5D Graphite System

A next-generation shaft technology perfected through the Destroyer series. Five specialized prepreg components—designed individually for longitudinal, transverse, angled load, elongation, and elasticity—are fitted together like a precision puzzle and press-fused into a single shaft. By reducing overlap inherent in traditional layered construction, this system achieves ultra-lightweight performance with finely tuned rod action and exceptional strength. With no excessive graphite layering, the rod delivers maximum performance with minimum material. Cookai brings a new sensory dimension to saltwater fishing.

Head Locking System (PAT.P)

Derived from the evolved Destroyer aluminum-block structure, optimized for the powerful targets of saltwater game. It dramatically increases the axial rigidity of the blank’s butt section when a reel is mounted. Even the slightest lure vibrations or delicate strikes transfer directly from the tip to the reel seat without loss, delivering heightened sensitivity. This creates a direct connection between the angler’s core, arms, fingertips, and the rod itself, enabling unprecedented linear “directability.”

IES Reel Seat (D.PAT.P)

The hump of the backward-leaning bridge fits deeply into the palming hand. A 3D ergonomic design—based on ITO Engineering’s field testing—suppresses spring-back during high-impact casting while offering comfortable grip and reduced fatigue. It combines linear controllability for minnows and jigs with intuitive response during bottom-contact fishing. Exposed blank sections allow direct contact, further enhancing sensitivity when working long casts or bottom-focused presentations.

Titanium Frame SiC-S Guides

All models are equipped with Megabass’s ultra-light, high-strength titanium frame SiC-S guides. Designed through extensive field testing by ITO Engineering and saltwater specialists across Japan. This optimized guide system enhances long-distance casting, lure controllability, directability, and line management, while ensuring ideal load distribution from 0° to 130° during the fight.

Hand-Built ArtWork Threading – Megabass Factory

Each rod is carefully wrapped by Megabass master builders. This beautiful custom threading, rooted in Destroyer rod-building tradition, also provides strength capable of withstanding unexpected encounters with monster fish.
