With a drop-in sabiki, fishing cannot begin until a small fish is caught as bait. The downward-facing line spreads out when the rig is dropped, separating the hook from the main line and inviting the small fish to get on. In addition, because the line faces in the direction of the pull, the line and main line do not bend, reducing the decrease in knot strength and allowing the line to withstand the speed of bluefish (15% increase in knot strength: compared to Gamakatsu). The four-hook design also reduces dangerous troubles when catching fish.
