This curve is one of the characteristic postures of aquatic insects that are just emerging. The 2487 is thin and light, while the 2457 is sturdy yet delicate, and both of these flies have a natural look. Both are also suitable for large dry flies with extended bodies.

TMC has eliminated the offset on the 2487/2457. This was mainly to address the problem of the fly tilting in the water when used with emergers or soft hackles, but it also has the advantage of making tying easier. The overall shape of the eye angle has been readjusted, and as a result, hooking/holding performance has actually improved. The 2487 is also available in a gold finish.
