The JAZIL, a new series from Frytex, debuted in 2021. It’s a versatile rod, blending fishing styles from Brazil and Japan, developed through extensive testing by Fabio Tachikawa.

Compact Storage Size

The rod has a compact transport length of 84 cm, using a detachable grip and 2-piece system, which is common in the Frytex series. This design makes it easy to transport by car, airplane, or other public transportation.

Grip Design Inspired by 90s Bass Rods

The rear grip measures 23.5 cm, designed to be shorter and ideal for narrow spaces with limited backcasting room, such as ponds with overhangs. It's well-suited for side-hand casts and flipping in such areas.

Versatile for Various Lures

With a medium-class regular-fast taper, the rod is versatile, handling everything from 10g topwaters to 50g big baits. The tip has just the right stiffness for bottom-fishing techniques, making it suitable for lures like rubber jigs and Texas rigs.

The name Jazil comes from Japan × Brazil = JAZIL.
I developed this rod for black bass, but it’s also designed for species found in Brazil, such as tucunaré (peacock bass), tararira (giant snakehead), and snook. The rod’s 2-piece plus grip construction provides excellent power during casting and while fighting fish. One of the major benefits of this design is that it can be transported by plane without extra fees and is compact enough to fit in small cars or on bicycles.

In the 90s, bass rods had short blanks and grips. I wanted to recreate such a rod. The Jazil 63 is a 6’3” rod designed for tight spaces. Its short grip prevents it from hitting the body during low trajectory casts (side casts, backhand casts, skipping), allowing for rapid repeated casts. It’s a rod that can handle any cast style, as casting is the foundation of lure fishing. The short grip also makes fast topwater action, such as with stick baits or pencil baits, easier to control.

This all-rounder model can handle a wide range of lures, including rubber jigs, Texas rigs, jighead rigs, noisy lures, cranking baits, and even large baits like the 50g Tobikichi. The Jazil 63 has a medium to medium-heavy regular-fast taper, bending well even when fighting large fish, easily bringing in 60+ cm bass.

The Jazil 63 can also be used for various freshwater and saltwater fish in Japan. In boat seabass fishing, it can accurately cast metal vibes in the 18-28g range, even in tight spaces. It can also be used for bottom fishing with 16g jigheads for species like flathead and flounder. The rod’s excellent sensitivity allows you to detect even the smallest bites.
