Supervised by Captain Okamoto of Nabura Fishing, one of Tokyo Bay’s most active and experienced Tairaba guides, this rod series is designed for both experts and beginners, incorporating the latest trends in Tairaba fishing.

Blank:

Built with aramid reinforcement, the blanks allow anglers to maintain initiative in fights with large red sea bream, providing strength and control during the battle.

Spiral Guide Setting:

Guides on the tip are set in a spiral configuration, increasing sink speed so the lure reaches the bottom faster, creating more bite opportunities.

Guide Performance:

Through extensive testing, the design minimizes tip rotation issues commonly seen in spinning rods during reeling, improving precision and control.

Grip Length:

Long grips allow anglers to securely hold the rod under the arm, providing stability while reeling and increasing the number of bites.

Tip Visibility:

Tips are painted chartreuse, enhancing visibility of even the smallest bites.

A versatile Tairaba rod designed for both vertical jigging and drifting techniques.

Tairaba fishing in Tokyo Bay originally relied on soft rods to feel subtle bites, but the style has evolved to a method where anglers sense the current, detect bites via the reel, and transfer them to the rod. To address the challenge of “letting the fish take the bait versus actively hooking it,” this rod adopts a “Nose-Kake” (let-and-hook) approach, blending both strategies.

In shallow-water scenarios, maintaining rod tension over longer distances is critical. Rods that are too soft can result in shallow hook penetration and lost fish. The SKC67L-TAI RUBBER is optimized for shallow conditions, balancing softness with the ability to apply tension efficiently. Its strong, resilient butt section can handle the high torque typical of shallow-water strikes, ensuring reliable landings.

The rod features a regular taper; by slightly shortening the length, it becomes easier to maintain tension while preserving sensitivity.
