Three models designed to master diverse pufferfish fishing across regions

The “PRIZA FUGU” series was created to tackle pufferfish fishing in all seasons and all regions. After repeated testing across a wide range of eastern and western fishing grounds, and various rig styles such as bay pufferfish fishing, cut-off (kattou) fishing, and tiger pufferfish targeting, three specialized models were developed. True to its name—PRIZA (Prizer, a challenger aiming for rewards)—this series delivers exceptional real-world performance and outstanding catch results.

Exceptional visual bite detection

Each model is equipped with a specially designed ultra-sensitive solid tip that excels in visual bite detection. This technology, refined through development in ikametal fishing, has been applied to pufferfish fishing. It clearly reveals everything from “holding bites” to the slightest contact when fish gather around bait and barely touch the rig.

Flexible tip for stabilizing the rig

The flexibility of the solid tip not only enhances visual sensitivity but also improves stability during “stay” periods. In pufferfish fishing, the zero-tension stay technique—where the weight rests on the seabed while the tip is slightly bent—is critical. The flexible tip absorbs boat movement, stabilizing the rig and improving bait presentation.

Next-level blank design

A high-taper tip section combined with a tubular blank made of high-modulus carbon delivers a sharp and responsive hook-setting feel. This design provides a refined, high-end fishing experience worthy of the PRIZA name.

Special solid tip

An ultra-flexible tip section that visually displays even the slightest bite. It also offers improved strength and helps prevent damage from line wrapping.

The material is prone to retaining bends—do not leave the tip under load or bent for long periods. If deformation occurs, storing it in an unloaded state for several hours to days may help restore shape.

High-visibility tip marking

The tip is painted in pearl white and orange, combined with fade-resistant metallic red thread, improving bite visibility under all lighting conditions.

Spiral guide system

Reduces line tangling at the tip during repetitive boat fishing operations and helps prevent accidental tip breakage.

Solid joint system

Allows only the solid tip section to be replaced in case of damage, providing a reliable maintenance structure.

Stainless frame SiC guides

Equipped with Fuji stainless frame SiC ring guides, offering excellent heat dissipation, smooth line flow, and high durability.
