The Legend Reborn: Introducing the "POWER GRIPZ EDITION" BC4 5.10 Series

The powerhouse 4-piece travel rod series gets a massive model change with the introduction of the Power Gripz Edition. Despite being a multi-piece travel rod, it bends dynamically from the mid-section under load and features a lightning-fast recovery speed. This action makes it incredibly easy to load the rod for explosive, bullet-like casting distance while providing a level of fish-cushioning and control that is in a class of its own.

Key Design Changes (#4 Grip Section)

The entire #4 grip section has been completely redesigned from the ground up to maximize durability, slip resistance, and comfort during intense encounters with trophy fish.

1. Power Grip

   True to its subtitle, a specialized rubber grip is wrapped over the #4 butt section. This provides exceptional slip resistance and allows you to firmly squeeze the rod to exert maximum leverage when battling strong fish.

2. Reel Seat

   Adopts a blank-touch reel seat design. The body of the seat has been made slimmer, making it much more natural and comfortable to wrap your hand around.

3. Foregrip / Under-Trigger Grip

   Transitioned to a full-EVA construction for a seamless, comfortable hold.

4. End Grip

   Upgraded to a hybrid of rubberized cork (assembled cork) and EVA. Rubberized cork was chosen for its high coefficient of friction (unmatched slip resistance), comfortable elasticity, and superior long-term durability.

The Light-Class Game Changer of the BC4 Pack-Rod Series

When situations demand throwing tiny lures—such as light rigs, 5 cm minnows, or small pencil poppers—an ultra-light (UL) rod is typically the standard choice. However, standard UL rods desperately lack the butt power needed to handle unexpected, hard-fighting large fish.

That is where the BC4 5.10L steps in.

Featuring a steep, rapid taper from butt to tip, this rod pairs an ultra-fine, flexible tip with an incredibly strong butt. This unique action allows you to effortlessly cast lightweight lures while maintaining the authority to stop hard-charging fish.

During its field testing, the rod was subjected to diverse species—including Hokkaido rockfish, main river to mountain stream trout, bass, seabass, and Okinawa stream fishing—to dial in the exact performance required for these highly technical environments. Furthermore, with a closed pack length of just 49 cm, it slips effortlessly into standard backpacks for easy travel.

Important Customer Notices

For Current BC4 5.10 Series Owners: Grip-Only Upgrades

The specifications for the #1, #2, and #3 sections of the new model remain identical to the previous BC4 5.10 series. Therefore, current owners can upgrade to the POWER GRIPZ EDITION simply by purchasing the new #4 grip section and combining it with their existing #1–#3 sections.

• Individual #4 grip parts sales will begin as soon as preparation is complete following the official launch of the complete rod.
• Pricing: This replacement is not covered under warranty. The #4 grip will be sold as a standalone part for 25,000 JPY (plus tax).
• Please note that advanced reservations for the standalone grip section are not accepted.

Warning: Prevent Joint Loosening

Due to the physical nature of multi-piece travel rods, joints can naturally loosen after repeated casting. Casting with loose joints can cause severe damage or rod breakage.

• Recommendation: We highly recommend applying Ferrule Wax to the joints. This prevents sections from slipping off during casting, blocks water intrusion, and prevents the joints from binding/seizing up.
• Best Practice: Always check that all joints are securely seated after your first few casts, and regularly throughout your session.
