Sensitivity Domain Design System [ESS] (Expert Sense Simulation)

When a rod bends, a restoring force (recovery energy) is generated that attempts to return it to its original position. This "strain energy," produced as the deformed (strained) blank tries to recover, is a crucial factor that determines the performance of a rod. Daiwa has developed its own system to analyze and design "strain energy," allowing not only precise numerical evaluation of what’s excellent and what’s lacking but also the incorporation of anglers’ sensory perceptions into the design. This makes it possible to create rods that better meet anglers' demands.

AGS (Air Guide System)

The AGS (Air Guide System) utilizes a carbon frame to achieve lightweight, high sensitivity. Carbon, with approximately three times the rigidity of titanium, effectively transmits even subtle signals from the line directly to the blank without absorption. The lightweight properties of carbon also contribute to the overall weight reduction of the rod, particularly at the tip, further enhancing sensitivity.

SVF COMPILE-X Nano Plus

Constructed with reduced resin content and densely packed graphite fibers, this ultra-muscular blank offers high rigidity and resilience, resulting in exceptional sensitivity for perceiving underwater details. Reduced resin weight means lighter and more powerful rods. This allows for significantly lighter or thinner rods with equivalent power. Ideal for fishing that demands instant responses to bites, this blank delivers sharp sensitivity and robust butt power. Its slim profile ensures easy casting and precise targeting, while its lightweight design supports long casting sessions. Enhanced by Nano Plus technology, this high-performance blank is taken to the next level.

SVF COMPILE-X

By reducing the amount of resin (binding material) and increasing the density of carbon fibers in the carbon sheet, this technology achieves lightweight rods with increased power and a slimmer profile. The strong rebound force provides sharp casting performance and high sensitivity to detect lure action.

HVF Carbon

Daiwa focuses on the amount of resin in the carbon sheet, the material that most influences rod performance. By reducing the "excess fat" of resin and increasing the density of carbon fibers, HVF Carbon creates a more muscular and powerful material. It’s ideal for rods emphasizing resilience and strength.

X45 Full Shield (aka X45 Cobra Shield)

This structure uses 45° carbon bias cross wrapping in the outermost layer, the area most prone to twisting during casting, action, hooking, and fighting. This significantly enhances torsional rigidity, improving casting accuracy and unlocking the rod's full potential.

X45

To prevent twisting during various fishing motions, research determined that adding "45°" bias cross carbon fibers (±45°) to the traditional structure (0°, 90°) is optimal. X45 improves power, operability, and sensitivity.

3DX

This honeycomb structure focuses on restoring force. By applying it to the rod’s outer circumference, it enhances stability, restoring force, and tip recovery, leading to improved casting distance and accuracy.
(Only available for 721MLFS-SV AGS20, 772MFS-SV AGS17, 7102L+FS-SV AGS18)

V-Joint α

Using high-strength Nanoalloy material and Daiwa’s precise manufacturing, V-Joint α improves strength, reduces weight, and ensures smooth bending. This innovation enhances castability and maneuverability.
(Only available for 6112ULRFS-SV AGS24, 721MLFS-SV AGS20, 852ML+FS-SV AGS22)

V-Joint

Adopting a bias-structured carbon sheet at the rod joint minimizes distortion, achieving a bend similar to a one-piece rod. It improves power, resilience, and recovery speed, delivering an ideal action.

Tubular Power Slim

This tubular design with thick-walled, high-density HVF graphite offers exceptional casting performance and a balance of power and resilience, all in a slim and elongated profile.
(Except for 6112ULRFS-SV AGS24)

CWS (Carbon Wrapping System)

Daiwa’s unique technology secures guides and reel seats to the blank using carbon cross-wrapping instead of thread. This reduces weight while improving holding strength, torsional rigidity, and durability.
(Only available for 6112ULRFS-SV AGS24, 721MLFS-SV AGS20, 852ML+FS-SV AGS22)

AIR SENSOR SEAT

The Air Sensor Seat incorporates carbon fibers for lightweight, high strength, and high sensitivity. Its custom design enhances operability compared to generic reel seats.
(Only available for 721MLFS-SV AGS20)

SMT (Super Metal Top)

Daiwa's proprietary SMT uses super-elastic titanium alloy for the rod tip, providing sensitivity unattainable with carbon. Its elastic and robust properties ensure both tactile and visual sensitivity for detecting subtle bites.
(Only available for 6101ULLX/RS-SMT16)

MEGA TOP

This uniformly distributed carbon solid enhances strength significantly, enabling fine, flexible, and high-tapered tips. MEGA TOP excels in both tactile and visual sensitivity, allowing precise detection of bites.
(Only available for 6102LFS AGS13)

An Unwavering Commitment to Guides

For Haruhiko Murakami, guides are far more than mere "holes to pass the line through." Just as much thought goes into the guides as the blanks during rod creation. For example, renowned models like the Tsune Special and Hama Special owe their exceptional actions to meticulously researched guide settings. Murakami not only prioritizes function but also aesthetics. The precise arrangement of guides along the curve of the rod reflects his unique sense of beauty.

AGS: As Light as Air
"AGS" stands for Air Guide System, embodying carbon guides that are "light as air." DAIWA's cutting-edge technology has achieved what was once thought impossible—forming guides using carbon material. AGS offers an approximate 40% weight reduction compared to traditional guides, significantly lightening the rod and improving casting distance and accuracy. But that’s not all. With approximately three times the rigidity of titanium, AGS delivers signals transmitted through the guides directly to the blank, dramatically enhancing sensitivity.

"The more you use AGS, the more you’ll understand its brilliance. It’s a completely new experience..." says Murakami, vouching for its excellence. "My ideal is a guide that feels 100% integrated with the rod—a guide seamlessly molded into the blank itself. That might remain a dream, but I believe AGS brings us one step closer."

Murakami is undoubtedly a man of daring vision, and AGS may indeed represent a step forward toward achieving the ideal guide system.
