DAIWA Technology

Expert Sense Simulation (ESS)

When a rod bends, it generates restorative energy (restoring force) that works to return it to its original shape in the opposite direction of the bend. This “strain energy,” created as the deformed blank attempts to recover, is one of the most critical factors determining rod performance.
DAIWA developed its own system to analyze and design around this strain energy, enabling engineers to clearly identify “where the rod excels” and “where it needs improvement” through numerical evaluation. By incorporating not only measurable performance factors but also the angler’s intuitive “sensitivity domain” into the design, rods can be tuned more closely to what anglers truly desire.
Excludes model 6102LFS AGS13.

AGS (Air Guide System)

AGS is designed to achieve lightweight construction and ultra-high sensitivity through carbon-framed guides. Carbon—approximately three times stiffer than titanium—transmits even the slightest vibrations from the line directly to the blank without absorbing them. Its lightweight properties also help reduce overall rod weight, especially at the tip, further improving sensitivity.

SVF COMPILE-X Nano Plus

A hyper-muscular blank constructed with drastically reduced resin content and densely packed graphite fibers. Its high rigidity and tension deliver exceptional information transmission, giving the angler sensitivity that feels as if they are touching the underwater world directly.
Reduced resin means increased lightness and power: rods of the same power can be made significantly lighter, and rods of equal power and weight can be made noticeably slimmer.
This blank is essential for fishing styles requiring instantaneous reaction to bites, providing razor-sharp feel and powerful butt strength. Its slender profile improves swing-through and casting accuracy, while its weight reduction allows continuous casting throughout the day.
With Nano Plus technology, this already high-performance blank has evolved even further.
Exclusive to model 6112ULRFS-SV AGS24.

SVF COMPILE-X

By reducing resin (the adhesive component) and increasing carbon fiber density in the most essential rod-building material—the carbon sheet—SVF COMPILE-X achieves reduced weight, increased power, and a slimmer profile.
Its strong rebound force offers sharp, crisp casting performance and excellent sensitivity that clearly conveys lure action.
Excludes models 6102LFS AGS13, 6101ULLX/RS-SMT16, and 6112ULRFS-SV AGS24.

HVF Carbon

In designing carbon sheets—the components most influential to rod performance—DAIWA focuses not only on increasing the elasticity of the fibers themselves but also on reducing the resin that binds them.
By removing “excess fat” (resin) and increasing carbon fiber density, High-Density HVF Carbon creates a more muscular and powerful material ideal for rods emphasizing strength, tenacity, and durability.
Used only in models 6102LFS-AGS13 and 6101ULLX/RS-SMT16.

X45 Full Shield (X45 Cobra Shield)

X45 Full Shield is a structure that suppresses blank twisting by tightening the outermost layer with a ±45° carbon bias cross—applied from the tip section, where twisting is most likely to occur.
This dramatically increases anti-twist rigidity, resulting in improved casting accuracy and enabling the rod to perform to its full potential.

X45

Through years of research, DAIWA concluded that adding a ±45° bias layer—alongside the traditional 0° and 90° carbon orientations—is optimal for preventing blank twist during casting, lure action, hooking, and fighting.
Equipped with X45, rods exhibit dramatically improved anti-twist performance, power, operability, and sensitivity.
Excludes model 721MLFS-SV AGS20.

3DX

3DX is a structural support system that focuses on restorative force. Its honeycomb-like carbon structure, applied around the rod’s outer circumference, enhances stability and recovery strength.
As rods bend under load, the blank’s cross-section becomes slightly oval. The stronger its ability to return to a perfect circle, the greater its recovery performance—reducing tip oscillation and improving casting consistency and distance.
Used only in models 721MLFS-SV AGS20, 772MFS-SV AGS17, and 7102L+FS-SV AGS18.

V-JOINT α

By incorporating Nanoalloy high-strength material and leveraging DAIWA’s precision processing technology, V-Joint α further strengthens, lightens, and refines the bend curve of the original V-Joint.
In fishing situations involving repeated casting, thinning the joint section allows the entire blank to be made slimmer, enhancing swing-through and operability.
Used only on models 6112ULRFS-SV AGS24, 721MLFS-SV AGS20, and 852ML+FS-SV AGS22.

V-JOINT

By using a bias-carbon sheet at the joint section, V-Joint enables a smooth, distortion-free bend that resembles a one-piece rod.
Compared to rods without this technology, it greatly improves power, stiffness, recovery speed, and produces an ideal action.
Used only in models 6102LFS AGS13, 772MFS-SV AGS17, and 7102L+FS-SV AGS18.

TUBULAR POWER SLIM

Made by thickening high-density HVF graphite and forming it into a long, slim tubular blank, TUBULAR POWER SLIM delivers outstanding resilience and power, with enough forgiveness to make fishing enjoyable.
It also offers excellent casting performance.
Excludes model 6112ULRFS-SV AGS24.

CWS (Carbon Wrapping System)

DAIWA’s proprietary method of securing guides and reel seats to a blank using tightly woven carbon cloth instead of thread.
This reduces weight at component mounting points while improving holding strength (anti-twist rigidity) and durability (crack resistance).
Its distinctive carbon-woven appearance also adds a strong visual presence.
Used only on models 6112ULRFS-SV AGS24, 721MLFS-SV AGS20, and 852ML+FS-SV AGS22.

AIR SENSOR SEAT

Made with carbon fiber, the Air Sensor Seat reduces weight, increases strength, and enhances sensitivity.
Designed specifically according to each rod’s intended use, it provides a level of operability impossible with conventional reel seats.
Exclusive to model 721MLFS-SV AGS20.

SMT (Super Metal Top)

SMT is DAIWA’s proprietary solid tip made from super-elastic titanium alloy.
Thanks to the vibration amplification unique to metal, it delivers sensitivity unreachable with carbon materials.
In addition to high elasticity, strength, and resistance to damage, the material flexes delicately even with minimal input—providing both exceptional tactile sensitivity (felt through the hands) and visual bite detection.
Used only in model 6101ULLX/RS-SMT16.

MEGA TOP

MEGA TOP is a carbon solid tip with fibers and resin uniformly dispersed, allowing it to bend equally in all directions.
This greatly increases strength versus conventional carbon solid tips and enables slim, flexible, high-taper tip designs.
It delivers not only excellent tactile sensitivity but also outstanding visual bite detection.
Used only on model 6102LFS AGS13.

■ 7102L+FS-SV AGS18 【Betsuatsurae Saegake 710 AGS】

Building on the legendary “Saegake” series and its unmatched hooking feel, this model embodies the universal desire for “more”—more casting distance and more sensitivity at long range—realized through the PE PERFORMANCE concept and Daiwa’s advanced technologies. By combining the exceptional sensitivity of fine-diameter, low-stretch PE lines with the next-generation AGS guides, this rod delivers an elevated level of long-distance performance.

The flagship-exclusive SVF Compile-X construction uses an extremely low resin content and a densely packed carbon fiber structure. Wrapped in a slim yet thick-walled configuration with heightened elasticity, the blank achieves dramatically faster rebound speed when bent, allowing anglers to reach zones that the previous Betsuatsurae Saegake could not. The result is not only superior long-range casting power but also a new tier of high sensitivity.

Designed collaboratively by Haruhiko Murakami and the Heartland team, the taper follows the signature “Murakami Action”—a seamless, uninterrupted bending curve from the very tip to the butt section, offering a refined balance of suppleness and responsiveness.

An uncompromising pursuit of guide performance

To Haruhiko Murakami, guides are far more than just “rings for passing line.”
In rod building, he approaches guides with the same obsession as blanks. Legendary rods such as the Tsunespe and Hamaspe—still spoken of today—achieved their extraordinary action thanks in part to their thoroughly researched guide settings.

His obsession is not only functional; he also places exceptional importance on appearance.
The line of guides that accentuates the rod’s curved silhouette is itself a reflection of his aesthetic philosophy.

AGS—true to its name “Air Guide System”—is a carbon guide frame that is “light as air.”
DAIWA’s engineering made possible what was once considered nearly impossible: molding a guide frame entirely from carbon material.
AGS reduces weight by approximately 40% compared to conventional guides, contributing to lighter rods with improved casting distance and accuracy.
Moreover, AGS possesses roughly three times the rigidity of titanium, allowing vibrations transmitted through the guide to pass directly into the blank—dramatically enhancing sensitivity.

Murakami states confidently:
“The more you use AGS, the more you’ll understand its advantages. It’s a completely new feeling.”
He continues,
“My ideal is a guide that becomes 100% one with the rod—essentially a guide integrated directly into the blank. It may be a dream, but AGS is definitely one step closer to that.”

Haruhiko Murakami is a man who thinks boldly—but AGS indeed brings rods closer to the ideal guide system.
