개요

To fill every moment you spend with squid with real excitement.

"Emeraldas." The total tackle brand for squid gaming that DAIWA launched ahead of the rest of the world — built to put squid in your hands, and to fill every moment you spend with squid, right up until that ultimate moment arrives, with real excitement.
An exhilarating casting feel. Sensitivity that keeps relaying every change and sign through what used to be just idle waiting time — the fall, the stay, right up to the hookset. Reassuring confidence even when fighting a big one. And, precisely because it's a total design, a comfortable feel in the hand along with the kind of photogenic looks that shine in your camera roll.
Emeraldas. From the moment it's in your hands, we want it to keep delivering that excitement, anytime, forever.

Battle-tested real-world performance that achieves the sensitivity and handling the eging scene demands, at a high level — a "true standard."

"MX" offers beginner-friendly core performance, while master anglers have polished it and relentlessly pursued a taper you can really trust. The blank generously uses "HVF Nanoplus," the same material found in higher-end models, while "X45" thoroughly eliminates twist during casting and jerking. This delivers highly efficient handling with minimal power loss, transmitting action exactly as the angler intends. The reel seat uses the light, highly sensitive "Air Sensor Seat." On top of that, it's fitted with a carbon monocoque rear grip — a first for a DAIWA eging rod — dramatically improving vibration transmission. From a light, snappy jerk to a sharp hookset, the whole sequence of motion comes together with remarkable smoothness.

Performance beyond its class, and details with no compromise. Here is the "true standard" that anyone who understands the essence of eging should have in hand.

DAIWA Technology

X45

To prevent the twisting that occurs during casting, action, hooksets, and fights, years of research led to the conclusion that, on top of the conventional structure (0° and 90° relative to the rod tip), wrapping a "45°" bias cross — carbon fiber angled at ±45° — is the optimal way to prevent twist. By adopting X45, twist is prevented, and power, handling, and sensitivity are all dramatically improved.

Mega Top

Mega Top is a carbon solid material with fibers and resin evenly distributed throughout, so it bends the same way in every direction. As a result, its strength is dramatically improved compared to a conventional carbon solid tip. This makes it possible to build a slim-diameter, flexible, high-taper tip section that delivers not only sensitivity you can feel in your hand, but also excellent visual sensitivity in the tip itself, giving you a tip section that reads bites reliably.
Solid-tip models only

Air Sensor Seat

The Air Sensor Seat, which incorporates carbon fiber, achieves light weight, high strength, and high sensitivity. It's purpose-designed for each rod's intended use, delivering a level of handling that a generic reel seat simply can't match.

V-Joint

By using a bias-structured carbon sheet at the rod's joint, it achieves a beautiful, low-distortion bend that feels almost like a one-piece rod. Compared to a rod without it, power, backbone, and the speed of snap-back from a bend are all significantly increased, producing an ideal taper.

HVF Nanoplus

"High-density HVF carbon," which reduces the amount of resin while increasing carbon fiber density instead, is an ideal material for rods that prioritize toughness and strength. Combining it with Toray's Nanoalloy technology through DAIWA's own proprietary process makes even greater strength and weight reduction possible.

ModelDescription
75MMH-SSupervised by Tamaya Nomura. A high-power, short-length item with a solid tip. The tip is fitted with the highly sensitive "Mega Top," set to M-class power, paired with a powerful MH-class butt. Despite its short length, it's an "aggressive" rod born to handle a wide range of situations. The blank is never too stiff — supple, yet with a core backbone — and despite its firmer setup, it's exceptionally easy to handle. It has the power to cast heavy egi with confidence, while still never missing the delicate bites that only Mega Top can pick up. From scenes where baitfish are churning and you're waiting for a school of squid to arrive, to going after big squid in weed beds and shallows, this one rod can dominate a wide range of fields. A rod that answers an expert's demands, fusing handling and adaptability at a high level — exactly what Tamaya Nomura was chasing.
80MLMSupervised by Tamaya Nomura. A run-and-gun short item that closes the deal with a snappy, well-paced jerk. A short rod that fuses an ML tip — combining sharpness and suppleness — with solid M-class butt power. Light handling and strong adaptability let you run-and-gun at a good pace, from fishing ports to small rocky shorelines. It handles a wide range of egi from 1.8 to 4.0, and manages delicate work with small egi effortlessly. The ideal rod for a run-and-gun style that tackles varied fields at a good pace.
83MLA run-and-gun special item built around the best balance of handling and casting distance. A tubular-tip model built entirely around ease of casting and a delicate feel of control. Trimming the length down slightly from the classic standard sharpens the jerk, and boosts lightness and sensitivity. Centered on 2.5 to 3 size egi, it lets you focus on aggressive fall fishing, while the suppleness unique to ML also handles soft jerking with 3.5 size egi in spring. It boasts the depth to perform across every season — a classic run-and-gun eging model that beautifully fuses casting distance and handling. A rod for sharpening your senses and running freely across the field.
83MA highly mobile, semi-short item that handles even heavier egi sharply. Fitted with a tubular tip, this is a short-length spec, cut 3 inches from the standard eging-rod length. Built entirely around ease of handling and control, it lets you transmit your intent straight to the egi through instant action and quick follow-up casts. It handles a wide range of egi sizes from 2.5 to 4, centered on the mainstay 3.5, adapting broadly regardless of season or field conditions. The ideal rod for anglers who want to take on rock shores, jetties, and boats — all kinds of fields — with just this one rod. Recommended for anglers seeking a feel of total control, thanks to the lightness and precise handling that come from its slightly shorter length.
86MLA light-tune item that handles light egi action sharply and flexibly. Built on the classic eging-rod item "86M" as a base, evolved into a more finesse-oriented, supple taper. The perfectly judged 8.6ft length gives an outstanding balance of casting distance and handling, covering a wide range from 2.5 to 3.5, centered on size 3 — the mainstay egi size in fall. Its tubular-tip spec combines a light feel of control with delicate bite detection at a high level. Despite its ML power, it also combines backbone and toughness, hiding enough potential to handle big squid in spring too. A rod that combines style and performance, built for enjoying fall eging to the fullest.
86ML-SA sensitive-tune item built around tip delicacy that delivers high sensitivity. A sensitive model that uses the highly sensitive solid material "Mega Top" to push tip delicacy to the extreme. It picks up even the faintest change in current or egi behavior as "weight," relaying it to the angler's hand with a firm, unmistakable feel. A rod that lets you sense information you can't see with your eyes. Its length strikes a good balance between casting performance and handling, covering everything from close-range sight fishing to the deep zone offshore. It's a best match for the mainstay 2.5 to 3.5 egi sizes, using a medium-light action suited not only to fall aori squid but also to tubular-squid eging such as spear squid. Precisely because it's delicate, it can fish aggressively — a trump-card rod for technical eging that turns the smallest changes into an advantage.
86MAn all-round item with excellent handling and adaptability. Its length strikes an exquisite balance between castability and handling. As the core of the series, it's the definitive standard-bearer, delivering high versatility regardless of season, area, or target. Centered on the mainstay 3.5 size, it handles a wide range of egi sizes from 2.5 to 4, covering everything from big squid in spring to numbers fishing in fall. It fits a huge range of strategies too, from a delicate approach when activity is low, to a run-and-gun style covering wide areas at a good pace. Precisely because it can do everything with just one rod, it's the one to reach for first when in doubt — a rod that combines adaptability with real-world fishing performance.
86M-SFrom "feeling" a bite to "reading" it. An all-season item fitted with a solid tip. Built on the 86M, the core of the series, as a base, it uses the highly sensitive solid material "Mega Top" in the tip section to increase tip delicacy. The precision sensitivity unique to a solid tip reliably relays even the faintest change in current or a bottom touch, as "weight," to both the angler's hand and eyes. The taper unique to a solid tip enables fishing that you sense visually as well as by feel. Compatible egi sizes are 2.5 to 4. It adapts widely to every season and situation, from targeting big squid in spring to numbers fishing in fall. While it inherits its core performance from the 86M, it's the ideal rod for anglers who want an edge through a more delicate feel of control.
86MHA high-power item for taking down the monster class in spring. Specialized for tackling large aori squid from spring through late fall, it freely handles heavyweight egi in the 3 to 4.5 size class. The tip combines a moderate stiffness with suppleness, giving it butt power for long casts even with heavy egi, while delivering a sharp, decisive jerk. Despite being a high-power model built for such big-game fishing, it achieves a lightness that rivals higher-end models. It's hard to tire from even hours of jerking, letting you keep your concentration and work the egi precisely all day, whether in deep offshore water or points with fast current — and it brings its strength to bear in situations where reliable hooking performance is the key to success. At the same time, its tough, resilient blank skillfully absorbs the fierce jet-propelled runs of a big aori squid. This combination gives anglers both peace of mind and room to fish aggressively even when facing a monster-class aori squid. A trustworthy rod that takes on spring's monster aori squid head-on.
89MDistance and power to command wide-open fields. An all-season long-cast item. The 89M, with a tubular tip, is a semi-long-length design built around long-casting performance. Powerful, yet never sluggish, it transmits the angler's intent precisely to the egi even after a big long cast, delivering sharp, crisp egi control even in deep water. It shows its true value on high-footed rocky shores and jetties, and across wide-open surf fields, opening up virgin spots with overwhelming casting distance. Compatible egi sizes cover a wide range, from 2.5 to 4. With the power and handling to manage even big-stroke jerks, it's a rod for the long-casting angler — able to keep the upper hand and land a squid hooked far offshore by bringing it up to the surface without losing control.
