The Kohga IC 150-C, compatible with DAIWA CONNECTED, is now available as the standard size for sea bream fishing.
The core design concept of this red snapper reel is the next-generation baitcasting reel technology, "Hyperdrive Design." The Kohga IC 150-C features improved rotation performance thanks to increased tooth width on the "Hyperdrive Digigear," the core of the Hyperdrive Design. This delivers smooth rotation from low to high loads. Combined with a 130mm aluminum crank handle, this reel achieves a high level of winding performance, a key factor in red snapper fishing. The frame, handle side plate, and set plate are made of aluminum alloy, providing reliable body rigidity for fighting large red snapper and deep red snapper fishing, where high loads are a given. The drag system features an ATD (Automatic Drift Delay) system, which provides an expanded range of adjustment for the low drag range, which is the most commonly used in red snapper fishing. Furthermore, the use of synchronized level wind and electronic drag sound ensures smooth line release, enabling more confidence and ease of use than ever before.
Furthermore, by connecting to a smartphone, you can numerically monitor reeling and drop speeds, which are important in red snapper fishing, thereby improving the reproducibility of hit speeds. It also makes it easy to grasp the range of red snapper lures while drifting, making this a more powerful reel. DAIWA CONNECTED aims to provide new value to the fishing scene by achieving easy setup, advanced functionality, and a new experience. DAIWA CONNECTED is comprised of two technologies: "Electric Mobile Setting" and the "DAIWA Connecting System," and refers to a "reel that connects to a smartphone." The "DAIWA Connecting System," part of the DAIWA CONNECTED system, is installed on baitcasting spinning reels and smelt reels. By linking with wirelessly compatible reels (baitcasting spinning reels and smelt reels with a "-C" at the end), the "DAIWA Connecting System" allows for function updates and the ability to check data obtained from the reel.
Furthermore, new functions linked to wearable devices (sub-displays and hearables) will be released in the spring of 2025. The DAIWA CONNECTED concept will bring new value to the fishing scene and further expand the enjoyment of fishing.

HYPERDRIVE DESIGN
This next-generation design concept for baitcasting (spinning) reels significantly improves all basic performance standards, aiming to maintain high initial performance for a long time. The Hyper Drive design is comprised of four technologies. Hyper Double Support, which supports the gear drive for strong, light reeling, is a prerequisite for the Hyper Drive Digigear's long-lasting smooth rotation. The Hyper Armed Housing provides strong support for the internal structure, resisting flex and distortion. The Hyper Tough Clutch's insulating structure ensures continued operation even in harsh locations and greatly reduces adhesion caused by salt buildup. These synergistic effects ensure consistent performance in any field.

HYPERDRIVE DIGIGEAR
A newly designed gear system pursues strong, smooth rotation that lasts. This proprietary DAIWA technology achieves an increased meshing rate without reducing the gear tooth module (size), which directly affects durability, thereby maintaining initial smoothness for a long time. Furthermore, the Hyper Drive Digigear on the Kouga IC 150-C features an increased tooth width, providing smooth rotation under both light and heavy loads.

HYPER DOUBLE SUPPORT
This drive support system delivers sustained smoothness and powerful, lightweight reeling. High-precision support on both ends of the pinion gear with two ball bearings prevents handle input attenuation, enabling powerful, effortless reeling even under load.

HYPER ARMED HOUSING（FULL AL）
The housing system provides high-rigidity, high-precision support for the internal structure, resulting in precise reeling feel and power. Using a metal frame, a key component, combined with the side plate and set plate, ensures basic performance is maintained for an even longer period of time. This series uses aluminum alloy for the frame, side plate (handle side), and set plate. It delivers high reeling performance comparable to that of round reels.

HYPER TOUGH CLUTCH
Not only does the clutch system offer crisp on/off performance, even after thousands or tens of thousands of cycles, it also boasts extremely low trouble, even in high-salinity waters. This cutting-edge insulation structure has already reduced the number of repairs due to sticking in harsh saltwater fishing conditions by 99% compared to our previous models.

ATD
The ATD operates smoothly and continuously in response to the pull of the fish. By pursuing smooth start-up and tracking, you can focus on the fight without worrying about drag settings.

SYNCHRO LEVEL WIND
This mechanism synchronizes the left and right reciprocating motion of the level wind with the spool rotation during both rig release and reeling. Not only does it maintain a clean spool condition, but its movement during release ensures a smooth rig release.

Electronic Drag Sound
"Even smoother. A high-performance drag for next-generation baitcasting reels."
This feature detects spool rotation and notifies the angler of drag activation with an electronic sound. Conventional mechanical drag clicks play an important role in informing the angler that the drag is engaged. However, the ratchet mechanism and sound-emitting pin inside the drive gear that produce the sound create physical resistance. By eliminating this mechanical mechanism and incorporating an "Electronic Drag Sound," we've achieved both smooth drag performance and a more audible drag sound.

The 130mm long handle, in particular, is specially designed to eliminate the weight associated with higher gear ratios. While a 65mm single handle requires technique to reel at a constant speed, the 130mm long handle enables smooth reeling and constant speed reeling even with high gears. Additionally, the new Power Light Knob MM knob is designed for a better grip.
