Aperçu

In the Age of Discovery for sea bass rods, unknown gold still lies waiting to be found.

The Age of Discovery of old was itself an era of one discovery after another — Vasco da Gama opening the sea route to India, Columbus reaching the Americas… and each leap in navigation technology carried the world into the next era.
The "Age of Discovery" that has come to the world of sea bass rods has likewise been a string of discoveries. Having set out ahead of the rest, we want to declare this: there is still more to this world.

Foojin'Z 6th GENERATION

"AS REAL AS IT GETS"

The 5th-generation Foojin'Z was reborn in 2021 with TORAYCA® 3rd-generation carbon on board. At the moment it was completed, there was a strong sense of accomplishment — but because I had poured every idea I had into it, I also felt some anxiety about what the next model change would even look like. Technology, though, never stops advancing; new breakthroughs and ideas kept emerging, and over these past four years we've been building it all back up again.

TORAYCA® released an additional 3rd-generation carbon, M46X; NANO JOINT has also advanced significantly over these four years; and on top of that, we've established a new prepreg innovation called X-FORCE100, with a 100.0% carbon content. This new technology further speeds up the settling of tip vibration that occurs during casting, and brings sensitivity to a level beyond comparison. I think you'll feel this comfort the moment you use it.

The 6th-generation Foojin'Z embodies the current pinnacle of sea bass rod design, in both materials and technology.

X-FORCE100

Carbon Content: 100.0%
"X-FORCE100" — an industry-first prepreg manufacturing method for carbon

X-FORCE100 is APIA's new technology, introduced with this Foojin'Z 6th Generation. Conventional methods for increasing strength involved layering carbon fiber in multiple directions across separate prepreg sheets. X-FORCE100, by contrast, molds carbon fiber crossed at a torsion-resistant 45° angle within a single prepreg sheet. We also succeeded in eliminating the "glass scrim" backing that had been used to reinforce carbon prepreg. The result is a sea bass rod made of 100% pure carbon.

Main features of "X-FORCE100":

  • Carbon fiber crossed at a torsion-resistant 45° angle, molded within a single prepreg sheet.
  • A 100% pure carbon rod improves vibration transmission, suppressing tip vibration and boosting sensitivity.
  • Uniform manufacturing eliminates variation between individual rods.

TORAYCA® 3rd-Generation Carbon

Featuring the cutting-edge material TORAYCA® "M46X." Built entirely from TORAYCA® 3rd-generation carbon, the Foojin'Z 6th Generation delivers outstanding "distance," "accuracy," and "power."

In addition to TORAYCA® "M40X" and "T1100G," carried over from the 5th-generation Foojin'Z, a newly introduced 3rd-generation carbon with a 46-ton modulus, "M46X," joins the lineup. With high-modulus (M40X), medium-modulus (T1100G), and now ultra-high-modulus (M46X) materials all in place, the Foojin'Z 6th Generation could be built entirely from TORAYCA® 3rd-generation carbon.
With the dramatic leap of four years ago still fresh in memory, this further infusion of cutting-edge materials invites every sea bass angler into uncharted territory.

Main features:

"M46X"
An ultra-high-modulus, 46-ton TORAYCA® 3rd-generation carbon fiber announced in 2024. This newly developed high-strength 46-ton material achieves compressive and flexural strength on par with conventional 40-ton material. It's the material behind faster cast speed and quicker settling of tip vibration, producing a "bend" and "snap-back" at a speed only slow-motion cameras can capture. Resin used: #2574 (Nanoalloy).

"M40X"
Extraordinary "sensitivity" and "handling performance" that eliminates every trace of vibration.
A 40-ton high-modulus carbon fiber — a cutting-edge material developed for use in rockets and next-next-generation aircraft. Pursuing both modulus and strength to their absolute limits, it keeps the same modulus as M40J while boosting compressive strength by 30%. It's the material behind snap-back performance and faster cast speed. Resin used: #2574 (Nanoalloy).

"T1100G"
The world's highest-strength carbon — "strength" and "power" on another level.
A 33-ton medium-modulus carbon fiber developed for rockets, F1, and next-generation aerospace applications, currently boasting the highest tensile strength of any carbon fiber in the world. Beyond sheer strength, it's the material behind accelerated rod speed on the cast and a supple bending action. Resin used: #2574 (Nanoalloy).

JOINT

NANO JOINT

APIA technology, evolved even further: "NANO JOINT"

The weak point of conventional multi-piece rods was, without question, the joints. More joints meant more weight, and a resulting top-heavy balance. Each joint could bind up, and more joints meant lower overall strength. Worst of all was the stress of re-seating loosened joints again and again. It was clear that, aside from the benefit of a shorter closed length, conventional joints were the source of a great many downsides for pack rods.

"NANO JOINT" is a joint system developed in-house by APIA using NANOALLOY® technology. In particular, the Put-in style "NANO JOINT" now in use resolves this problem by outperforming traditional spigot joints not only in "strength," "weight reduction," and "balance," but even in "bending curve." The taper difference at the joint is finished by ultra-high-precision grinding to within 2/1000–2mm, which dramatically reduces the frustrating looseness that can develop during a day's fishing. The improvement is especially dramatic on multi-piece rods, which have more joints to begin with.

  • Because NANO JOINT is finished with ultra-high-precision grinding, please use it as is.
  • Use the included joint assist sheet when connecting or separating the joints.
  • If a joint ever sticks, this may be due to carbon expansion; cooling the joint area well (with ice, for example) to shrink it back down will make it easier to pull apart.

EXTERIOR

SHIELD TECH Light

To protect the lightweight, delicate blank, APIA uses a special protective tape, "Shield Tech Light," that guards against small scratches. Combined with an unsanded finish, it achieves both a tough exterior and extreme sensitivity at the same time.

GUIDE

Fuji Titanium Frame "TORZITE"

Every model in the Foojin'Z 6th Generation is fitted with lightweight, low-friction Fuji titanium-frame TORZITE rings.

  • The tip guide alone uses a Fuji titanium-frame SiC-S ring instead, since its angle would otherwise cause PE line "chatter" and "twisting."

WARRANTY

APIA Premium Warranty

Until five years have passed since this product is discontinued, we will provide repairs for a deductible fee, with no limit on the number of times.

  • Please note that if you lose your warranty card, the Premium Warranty becomes void.

Storage precautions: If the rod gets wet, promptly wipe off the moisture with a dry towel. Storing it wet, or in a hot, humid place, can cause blistering on the painted surface.
