Since its release in 2013, the Egi Leader BS has captivated many egging fans.

Eight years have passed since then, and now in the fall of 2021, Egi Leader BS has finally advanced to a new stage. This evolution has been made possible by “Plasma Rise.”

PlasmaRise can be simply described as “a technology that imparts properties using a manufacturing method different from coating and maintains those properties at a high level.” So, what kind of evolution is this?

“Special polymer layer” that absorbs shocks and scratches

How can we realize this unique idea: “If the surface of the line is like rubber, it won’t get scratched even when it rubs against the rapids?”

The key to this is Sunline’s new technology, Plasma Rise.

Fluorocarbon is a chemical-resistant and poorly adhesive material, and coatings applied to it would easily peel off. However, PlasmaRise’s special plasma treatment has succeeded in forming a “special polymer layer” on the fluorocarbon surface.

This significantly improved the abrasion resistance and binding strength.

Compatibility with PE line

The cushioning properties of the special polymer layer also work well with PE line.

Because it is a rubber-based polymer layer, the PE line does not easily slip over the surface of the leader when knotted with the PE line. Furthermore, the completed knot is even less likely to slip, improving the strength of the knot.

To absorb a strong pull, not only linear strength but also toughness (tenacity) is required. This toughness can be quantitatively expressed as a physical property value called breaking energy.

Sunline’s know-how in controlling breaking energy, which it has cultivated through the production of lines for tuna longline fishing, also contributes to improved toughness.

Its tenacity, which allows it to withstand the strong pull of the jet propulsion of large white squid-type oval squid weighing over 2kg, and extra-large red squid-type oval squid (commonly known as red monsters) weighing 3kg to 4kg, and sometimes even over 5kg, is truly impressive.
