Our answer to this question was to tear up the previous blueprints. Improvement was not enough. We had to start from scratch, with a blank slate.
Discarding the past, we moved forward relentlessly. Each member of the development team embraced the expectations of anglers.
2025—SALTIGA was reborn.
At its core is the Power Drive Design technology. A design philosophy for next-generation large spinning reels that pursues high reliability for confidently battling large fish around the world. New technology to fulfill the mission entrusted to SALTIGA. In other words, the identity of SALTIGA.
This Power Drive design consists of two technology units: the body unit [Power Drive Engine] and the rotor unit [Power Drive Rotor].
The [Power Drive Engine] comprises two technologies: a large-diameter [Oversized Power Digigear] and a [Roller Power Oscillation] using a ball bearing system. These are housed in a large, fully metal (AL) monocoque body designed for maximum strength, resulting in light initial movement and more efficient and powerful winding.
Based on this [Power Drive Engine], the front unit is composed of the metal (AL) [Power Drive Rotor]. Its rational spherical shape maintains low inertia while achieving increased rigidity. The synergistic effect of the [Crank Power Bail] and [Tough Line Roller System] mounted on this rotor enables precise line release and a smooth transition to winding.
As part of a re-evaluation of the reel's core design philosophy, the drag mechanism has also been completely redesigned. Up to the 14000 size, the ATD Tough system is composed of 14 washers made of carbon and metal, while the 18000 size and above feature the new "DRD" drag mechanism. This completely new mechanism, with eight metal rollers mounted on a single plate, suppresses the decrease in drag force due to frictional heat. Even in big game fishing where long fights are unavoidable, it maintains a smooth start.
Long-distance casting performance has also been refined. Even in adverse conditions, anglers want to cast their lures as far as possible. To meet this expectation, the conventional LC-ABS system has been redesigned, and a new LC-ABS SW has been developed with a two-stage tapered shape on the upper side of the spool's line winding section towards the spool ring. This reduces line friction resistance, supporting that extra distance in the latter half of the cast.
Big game fishing fields have an extremely high risk of saltwater intrusion due to waves and sea breezes. Therefore, Magsealed technology has been implemented in three rotating parts: the line roller, pinion, and handle shaft. This makes it the only large spinning reel that is completely waterproof.
The lineup now includes the newly developed 25000 and 30000 series, in addition to the existing 8000, 10000, 14000, 18000, and 20000 series. These reels pursue the line capacity, power, and winding speed necessary to catch extra-large fish, such as giant bluefin tuna, meeting the fervent expectations of top anglers leading the big game fishing scene.

Stopperless body
The body structure has been simplified by removing the stopper. The decision to remove the stopper, which is a route for water and foreign objects to enter, not only improves waterproof performance but also minimizes the risk of sudden trouble when fishing in harsh environments or with large fish, which are required of the 25SALTIGA.

Manual return
In order to completely prevent the bail from flipping back when casting and to improve durability, a manual return mechanism is used that prevents the bail from flipping back when the handle is turned.
High grip egg (compatible with L-shaped knob)
Equipped with a high-grip egg knob (exchangeable to L size) that is easy to hold and non-slip.
